    Hey, waaaaaait a minute. (Banshrae)

Why would they need that hole if they have no mouth (and therefore, no way to eat?)

Proposed rules to deal with mounts and conditions

You make a good point. I think I might change that one. The only problem with 'normal' execution of domination, is that a mount/character share actions. So, why should the character get to use all three AND then the DM get to make the mount do something? Unless you consider that once...

Proposed rules to deal with mounts and conditions

Perhaps. But this list is more of a question of how to handle things that aren't covered by ANY rules in the DMG or subsequent WOTC source books. I'm not changing rules, I'm asking if these make sense to handle very common situations when players are using mounts.

Proposed rules to deal with mounts and conditions

In my campaign, the characters all just got horses. During preparation for the next session, I realized that some of the monsters have condition effects from burst or area attacks. Since burst and area attacks would be made against the character and his/her mount separately, this could result...

    Mounts - Some Important Questions

Regarding some of the other questions discussed in this thread, I'm going to pose what I think is the big issue with conditions and characters/mounts. The only real issue if you stick to the mount rules in the DMG (page 46) is the 'What happens when effects limiting/controlling movement or...

    Mounts - Some Important Questions

    A) I'd disagree with you. Mounting/Dismounting is explicitly a Standard Action in the DMG - not a move action. So, if you're dominated, I'd say as the DM, I can control your action (and therefore your mount - CHARGE!.... or maybe he'd try to throw you). The real question of what to do is...

    Mounts - Some Important Questions

That's a really good point. So, once off of the mount, I as dm could have the mount stand still or wander around the board.

    Mounts - Some Important Questions

I have more questions to add to the mounted combat questions: Prior to my questions about situations with mounted combat, let's remember a few things about it. 1) For the sake of attacks, you and your mount are considered in to take up the mount's space. Meaning while on your horse, you are...

    Mounts and combat

Do area and burst attacks attack both rider and mount? If so, if one becomes immobilized but not the other, how is that handled? Say the rider is immobilized, but the mount isn't? Does that mean the player can ise the mount to move but just can't get off? What about other effects?

    Mounts and combat

So, I have a question about characters on mounts. When a medium character is on a large mount, what space is the character in? I thought I read somewhere that the character can choose. But wouldn't that cause issues? I ask primarily for how to handle malee attacks. If a monster is on the...

House Rule - No Aid Other in Rituals

I've enforced a rule that combines a couple of what I've seen here. You can only aid another if you're trained in the skill. And it's a flat 10 or better on a d20 roll - I'll give them a bonus if they come up with a good way they're aiding (something creative can get up to a +5 meaning they...

How many nipples does a shifter have ?

One thing to be careful of with a shifter so focussed on nipples are any monsters with the Purple Nurple power. Very deadly.

How many nipples does a shifter have ?

Careful, now. We don't want to get off topic here. This is a very important, serious question facing us all. I couldn't sleep not knowing what the rule is on the nipple question.

How many nipples does a shifter have ?

It depends, did you take the Improved Nipples feat? If so, it increases your nipples from 6 to 8.

    Movement modes with mounts??

The more I thought about this, the more sure I am about how I'd rule (which is 'no' on the special powers also working on the mounts). Sure, If the mount has special movement (fly), you get it because you are mounted on it. But, YOU are the rider on the mount, not the other way around. Why...

    Movement modes with mounts??

Good question. After reading over the mount rules in the dmg, and seeing nothing that covers it, I'd rule that unique movements apply to the character only. The power only affects you, so why should you mount benefit? But that's just my opinion.

    Monster Healing Surges

Don't forget that a monster could be drowning or suffocating and could use up a healing surge if they fail an endurance check rather than take hitpoints equal to their level.

    Upgrading Magic Items

This has made itself very apparent in my game. Three of the my five players all have come up with a backstory or attachment to their weapon. Trying to figure a way to keep the game math right, adjust treasure parcels, and allow them a way to upgrade the weapon (houserule for the world - no...

    Question on trap countermeasures?

So, what I'm hearing, then, is there is no 'right' way. I'm kinda surprised that the DMG or DMG2 don't address this. I decided to include a couple of traps in the last session - one was a hazard of a collapsing wall in a mine, and the other a spider web trap in a cave with a bunch of spiders...
