    Gate spells and PC's

Ooops. You're right. My mistake. I was under the imrpession it could only call Outsiders. The spell can be found here... http://opengamingfoundation.org/srd/srdspellsg.html

    Placement of area spells

Another simple way is to stop using grids for combat... Go find a tailor's tape measure (the small flexible type, as opposed to large fairly rigid carpentry tape measures). 1"=5'. use the tape measure to measure out distances... Now the characters have to guess ranges and what areas are...

divine familiars... ya, i know, weird

Re: i like it Celestial and Fiendish are in the Monster Manual. Anarchic (chaotic) and Axiomatic (lawful) are in Manual of the Planes, and are different enough from Celest./Fiend. that you'll want to look them up. Also... If you don't want to use the Imp. Familiar feat, the Wizard's website...

    Movies based on books...HELP

Furn, for a movie that you can practically read the book along with... Try the 1989 (or 90?) version of Treasure Island... The one with Christian Bale as Jim Hawkins. It is an absolutely beautiful adaptation of the book. Great sets, great costumes, great actors and dialogue straight out of...

    Stronger Bow biger quivers

Las... have you taken a look at the Quiver of Ehlonna, a magic item from the DMG? The tougher bows are pretty nifty, but I just don't see a reason for the bigger quivers... If you can hang a big quiver off your back, you can also hang more than one small quivers off your back.

divine familiars... ya, i know, weird

Re: which god Well... it's probably too much. Most familiars will give a bonus to a skill, ability or saving throw. And usually the better abilities go to the crummier creatures (Toads, for example). Most do not give out a special ability. Most Improved Familiars give no bonus to...

divine familiars... ya, i know, weird

From the SRD, "Skills: Use the normal skills for an animal of that type or the master's, whichever are better." Hrm... I'm not so certain the Share Skills part of a familiar is supposed to work that way. Otherwise, all Familiars would be able to speak, or at least understand all the languages...

The Star Wars Iconic Characters: Out of the Jungle.

Up in the tree, Rorworr can see over the entire landing field. It is a flat ledge cut out of the side of the hill. A dozen or so of the pirates are going about their business, scattered amongst a veriety of parked vehicles... There is a repulsor van similar in design to the one you stole...

Things Said At The Gaming Table - Share Yours!!

This reminds me... The Wizard is out shopping for something to keep the party's pile of coins in. Something he can use Arcane Lock on to keep it safe. He walks into a General Store, and asks: Wizard: Excuse me, I'm looking for something I can use to transport large amounts of valuable...

Questions about Cannons in Swashbuckling Adventures

I don't know of any real rules, but here's what I'd do... Using round shot at long range (ballistic bombardment): Use rules similar to those for a catapult in the DMG. Damage, range and loading time would vary depending on cannon size and quailty. Using round shot at short range (flat...

    Gate spells and PC's

Hey... Don't forget that Genasi, Aasimar, Tieflings, Half-Celestials and Half-Fiends are labeled "Outsiders" (Celestial and Fiendish templates are just "Magical Beats", though). That means they could potentially be Gated by someone(thing) from another plane. And yes, the same could possibly...

divine familiars... ya, i know, weird

If he can wait until 3rd level, I'd suggest taking the Imp. Familiar Feat, and summon a "normal" familiar with the appropriate Planar (Celestial, Fiendish, Axiomatic or Anarchic) template.

Subtle magic instead of low magic

That could be a pretty cool idea... Anyway, I've always had a kind of idea that subtle spells = a powerful spellcaster. The less experienced wizards simply do not have the control to produce efficient magical spells... Their spells thereby "leak" spellpower in the form of light and noise and...

What good is the "Spell Mastery" feat?

Right, for example, Spell Mastery (Knock, Teleport) will get a Wizard out of any jail, since both spells only require verbal components. Plus, you can still add metamagic feats like Still Spell, Silent Spell and Eschew Material Components to the Mastered spells. And don't forget, lower level...

The Star Wars Iconic Characters: Out of the Jungle.

There's three obvious ways for Rorworr to get a better look of the landing field... He could again climb one of the trees near the forest's edge. Most of them are tall enough to overlook the ledge. Or, he could circle around the pirate base, and look doen into the base from the high side of...

Yes. Though the DC to decipher the scroll in the first place is 25 + spell level.

Large and above PC's with strange weapons...

Nope... From the SRD: All double weapons have this stipulation. Get yourself a pair of greatswords or bastard swords instead. Oh... And this should probably be in the Rules forum.
