I'm stocked for life! (But what if no one cares?)

I think it's going to depend on a lot of factors. We don't know what the economy is going to be like when 4e comes out. Money might be tight and there's always plenty of d20/OGL on eBay. We don't know if the game is going to have more emphasis on miniatures or moving more toward a cyber model...

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder's Goblins

I think you missed my intended point. If you're in the market to buy adventures most of the DCC line is going to have a higher cost-per-page then Pathfinder. After you run through those 5 adventures (not counting the gazetteer boxset) what do you do then? You're left with buying 32 or 48 page...

I'm stocked for life! (But what if no one cares?)

I believe most people abandon older versions of game systems because the product supply dries up. They often try to maintain the game but eventually the amount of work required to make up or convert everything themselves becomes too time consuming and it just becomes easier to buy the new...

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder's Goblins

Those pdfs are the exception though, not the norm. Out of DCC's 50 products only only 6 have 80 or more pages and one of those is the box set. 36 have 48 pages or less. But even in your example Crypt of the Devil Lich pdf is $1.00 more then Pathfinder pdf for the same number of pages.

I'm stocked for life! (But what if no one cares?)

I think players and GMs are a lot smarter about D&D, d20, and the OGL now then they were 6 years ago. As long as the OGL publishers keep producing quality OGL material after WotC switches to 4E gamers are going to keep playing it. I really do not believe every gamer is going to be as quick to...

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder's Goblins

First, you generally can't compare the cost-per-page of a black and white product to the cost-per-page to a full color product. Second, let's look at a recent DCC product: #44. The book runs $12.99 for 48 black and white pages, and that doesn't include shipping or sales tax. That's 27 cents per...

[GR PR] Green Ronin to Publish a Song of Ice and Fire RPG

The OGL license is irrevocable. WotC can switch to 4E, 5E, or 6E if the want to but the OGL license remains exactly as it is right now; and that license gets expanded as each new publisher adds more new ideas to it. Every publisher currently doing "d20 license" books can switch them to the "OGL...

Green Ronin to produce a new Song of Ice and Fire RPG

I consider the layout of 2E to be better then 1E though the artwork is not a good; and the Osseum Entertainment debacle was responsible for that. The artwork in the recent M&M books has generally been very good, IMO.

Pathfinder 1E Stop thinking of Pathfinder as magazine issues

I understand that and agree with you but, no matter how much we might wish otherwise, it doesn't change anything. Dungeon is lost to us. We can spend the next year saying "I wish we still had Dungeon" or we can move forward. Pathfinder is just one of many possible avenues for moving forward and...

Pathfinder 1E Stop thinking of Pathfinder as magazine issues

Sure, but the overall point is that soon Dungeon will be gone. The only adventures you are going to get after that will need to be individually paid for. It's not about comparing Pathfinder to Dungeon because it's gone. It's about comparing it to other adventures you might be picking up later...

When did you start using Greyhawk?

Not to mention the fact that you'd be hard-pressed to even find a copy of the LGG on the shelves of a FLGS now. That book's been out too long for most FLGS to stock routinely stock it now.

Pathfinder 1E Stop thinking of Pathfinder as magazine issues

Probably because we purchase $12.00-$15.00 black and white modules all the time. Those modules don't give us a free pdf, if we buy them from the publisher, and are seldom interlinked with additional modules so that we can use them as a series. If you think about it as a $20.00 magazine then it...

Pathfinder 1E Stop thinking of Pathfinder as magazine issues

It's a series of OGL sourcebooks. Nothing more, nothing less. What Paizo is doing is no different then what any other OGL-producing company is doing. WotC would have no grounds for a lawsuit.

Pathfinder 1E Is Pathfinder Sustainable in the Long-Term?

I agree with your points here. I think the first AP will be the flashiest to try and keep the subscriber so that they purchase through the first 6 - assuming most people's subscriptions will expire before the first 6 Pathfinders. I don't think it's priced too high. The real question is whether...

Pathfinder 1E Stop thinking of Pathfinder as magazine issues

I don't find Pathfinder to be a bad deal. If you subscribe you get a 96 page book and a pdf for $18.00. The book will be full color and have a 40-50 page adventure and 40-50 pages of campaign/world information in it. A 96 page full color pdf would probably go for $10.00-$12.00 by itself. If...

    myths or truths?

I find that my own children would rather go online and surf through Wikipedia then use that very expensive set of encyclopedias I purchased for them. :) There's also the benefit of having archives on the computer and not having to search through back issues of the magazines to try and find...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

I tend to agree with Crothian. Paizo had to get ready for GAMA and so the announcement had to be made now. It would not have made a difference to WotC, who could wait an additional month or two for them to fully prepare.

Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

It makes me wonder if Paizo is the one who pushed for the news to break now rather then later. It seems like Piazo had all their ducks in a row with the Pathfinder information, covers, and blog entries while WotC was still working out the details of how they were going to handle the situation.

Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

It seems to me that $20.00 for a 96 page full color adventure/module is reasonably priced. I paid $17.00 for my 64 page black and white copy of Time of Vengeance a couple of months ago. 50% more pages and color seems reasonable for only $3.00 more.

What didn't people like about Greyhawk From the Ashes?

WotC is a business with X amount of resources. They are going to put those resources where they believe they are going to get the most ROI. If Greyhawk material routinely outsold Forgotten Realms material you would see the two campaign worlds in opposite positions with the Realms fans asking why...
