My experience: I played in a campaign from level 1 to 15 as a Wilder/Constructor (3.5) alongside a (straight) Druid and a (straight) generalist Mage ... I can count the encounters that I "dominated" as the Wilder on 1 hand ... I can't even begin to count the encounters that the mage and druid...

Sort of .. the advantage the psion has over the spellcaster is that this tactic is easier to pull off ... that's all ... Wizard's/clerics are quite capable of it ... and in fact are better at it when they invest into it ... (the psion doesn't need to "invest into it" as it tends to come more...

I agree ... having played a Wilder ... the thing that bugs me is the Enervation mechanic. The way it's all written currently .. there really is no reason to take a Wilder over a Psion with Overchannel + Talented + Psionic Meditation .. Psion gets more powers, 2 more feats .... wilder gets...

Indeed why not? and once you realize wizard's and clerics are quite capable of the same thing, you realize that the "nova" is not a uniquely psionic thing ... True, it might be a bit easier for the novice to implement using psionics ... but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist in arcane/divine...
