Living with someone of the TV generation

Like one of the other readers on this thread, I too didn't get from your original post that your wife had any desire to change. That's much, much better news. Ways to break her of it. Well, first off - you're not really going to be 'breaking' her of anything. Humans don't work that way...

Living with someone of the TV generation

I am so sorry you're in this situation. It was indicative of the severity of the problem, your wife and mother in law saying what they did about your grandmother. Really, tv is not a problem unto itself - it's just another addiction. I've had a few of my own, and I know they're real sneaky when...

Wanted: Your Unpublished Work For Dog Soul Forums

The framework of the server/site I'm using does not allow for different copyright clauses on the bottom of each page. I could have a general statement however, and additional copyright info for each entry. I had thought the CCL would be good enough coverage. I am trying to let people know the...

Wanted: Your Unpublished Work For Dog Soul Forums

Send either me or Sean a banner 468 x 60 (approx.). Don't worry about hosting it - I just use my Photobucket account, which is free. (shameless plug for Photobucket - it's a damn good service). Or...if you want a textual ad on the side, you can send us up to 25 words and a 50 x 50 (doesn't have...

    Review limitations

Don't forget to share your opinions of the art, layout and ease-of-use. While I can't speak for Thele, I know I'd like to know what a reviewer thought of these areas in my company's pdfs.

A little thing called Generating Reviews.

Exactly. With so many pdf's to choose from out there, I look at a review as a more in-depth preview for potential customers. There's a risk a reviewer might see something with his or her 'fresh eyes' that you or your editor missed, but that's also another opportunity to then fine-tune the...

A little thing called Generating Reviews.

Crothian, I sent you a copy of 'Baba Yaga' a week ago to review. Within hours of its release our team found several major errors in some of the stat blocks (which got lost in the shuffle during layout), so we corrected it, re-uploaded it to its various places, and all was fine. I just sent you a...

    save me from Quark, somebody...

Well, Lulu won't accept our pdf's with embedded subsets. I don't know why, and I'm kind of miffed at them. I've worked in print shops for years and as long as the bleeds were correct, pdf's were golden. But, you learn something new every day.

Oh, and Sean wanted to know if this is anywhere near The Comic and Gamer's Exchange or Past Present Future. (not sure what it's called now)

    save me from Quark, somebody...

Well....the good news is there's an xtension that might possibly work. The bad news is, it didn't work for me. Mind you, I probably shouldn't even be running Quark 4.0 on my Windows XP laptop, but I do nonetheless. I tried to download an updater from the Quark site to bump me up to 4.1, and that...

    save me from Quark, somebody...

I was sure their had to be an xtension to fix this. Trouble is, Quark's website is so labyrinthine I can't find the right extension to download. Maybe I'll go back tonight and look again. Thanks for the advice though. (and if you've seen the actual page with such a lovely xtension, kindly paste...

    save me from Quark, somebody...

I'm using 4.1. And I've tried both to print using Acrobat as a printer (which just spits out a complete pdf for you), and also creating a postscript file which I then drag over to Distiller.

I'm in West Palm Beach, actually. Yeah, it's pretty frightening...I've got a whole series of books slated for POD coming up in the next three months. Gotta figure something out.

(suddenly remembers the iced tea commercial with claymation figures of Ralph Macchio and Pat Norita..."Kid? I'm 35!") No seriously, I'm well past the point of student discounts. And yeah, I really do want to 'spring' for InDesign. However, it's way beyond our budget at this point (at least...
