Amazing Stories #606 (with me in it)

t; I have found the single issues ordering page and should have my very own copy of #606 soon. I wanted to order #604 as well, but they're out of stock or something -- you're just too popular! :)

[Attn: Writers who wanna write for Eberron] Plot workshopping?

Just curious if anyone's heard back on this yet.

Amazing Stories #606 (with me in it)

I've never seen a "newsstand" copy of AS yet (and I've been going out of my way to look). Does anyone know if there is a way to order single copies of the magazine?

WotC Open Call for Novel Proposals

^I don't see why they wouldn't accept a dual-authored story -- just make sure you fill out and sign one release form each (so two in total).

Big Little Books and Pulp Mags

teenaged wedding I've got some copies of If and Galaxy from the '60s, copies of Analog and Asimov's from the '80s, and a Fantasy & Science Fiction from the '50s. Is this the sort of thing you mean, or did you mean older and pulpier?

D+1: pulp fiction crossing your path... :)

    Do you read short stories?

To me, Asimov and Burroughs are gods (and Moorcock is a demi-god). Burroughs turned me on to reading when I was about twelve years old, followed quickly by Asimov. Personally, I find immense re-read value in the old stuff and it is there, more often than not, that I take my own inspiration...

The Case of the Martian Ambassador

^That's good news. Would you mind pointing me to the Open Calls thread? (I looked, but... I'm not really all that bright :( ).

The Case of the Martian Ambassador

^I've been slow getting back into the novel. Only 1500 words in almost a week :( I do find novel-writing quite different from short story writing, so I hope it's only an adjustment period thing. Also, I had a couple of other writing commitments to take care of. I do like immersing myself...

    Do you read short stories?

^I was just reading G.W. Thomas' editorial in CyberPulp Magazine #2 and think he makes a good point about plot and the lack of it in many modern genre shorts. He says: I like literary stuff, and I like character, but I do think plot is too often overlooked in what is, after all, work...

    Do you read short stories?

^ I'm sure everyone has already seen my sad attempts to grab attention in this thread. Back to short stories (by other people), I also highly recommend The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction. These bastards have rejected me more than anyone else. The fiction that makes it is...

The Case of the Martian Ambassador

I agree with the sentiment you expressed earlier -- that kinda sucks... but not enough to stop me from submitting. As a brand new, unknown writer, the exposure from a game and a well-marketed, high-profile novel is probably worth giving up the rights WotC is asking for. I've decided to focus...

    Do you read short stories?

Here are two great shorts, both by the wonderful Ray Vukcevich: Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Boy at Strange Horizons The Wages of Syntax at SciFiction

The Case of the Martian Ambassador

nikolai: Your post is over 100 words and it took, what, five minutes to write? If you put just ten minutes a day into writing fiction every day, you'd have about 70,000 words by year's end -- the length of many WotC novels! Whoa, that math is really inspiring me -- I'm going to go write...

The Case of the Martian Ambassador

Takyris: You could always submit more than one proposal :) As for the "all rights," I'm not quite sure what that entails. Hopefully there'll be some clarification in the next few weeks. Andrew: Good luck! I've never taken the novel plunge before. I wanted to make sure my prose was...

    Enterprise 10-15-04

Part 1 was just okay, but I have high hopes for the follow-up. Hopefully we'll finally see a few 'temporal' loose ends tied up!
