[new spell] Teppin's Vortex of Unreality

I'm not so sure about it; it seems to fill a niche that was deliberately left open. Area-effect magic, targeting Will saves, doing Wisdom damage? And the restriction might even be a good thing - if you've got a genasi with chaotic alignment in the party, he can wade into melee with you...

    ditching 'unarmed attack' mechanics?

I've been considering doing away entirely with the 'unarmed attack' mechanics, and just giving all the PHB races natural attack modes of 2 slams 1d3/1d3 (2 slams 1d2/1d2 for Small characters). Basically, any character who plans on doing any bare-knuckle fighting is going to be a monk anyway...

Swallow a potion as a free action

Oh. Of course that's what I get for looking up 'Potion' instead of 'Item Creation'. I can still see some brokenness issues with people buffing themselves in combat with no cost to their attack routines. Or healing themselves in combat with no cost to their attack routines. Or drinking a...

    Half Incorporeal? Help!

The creature's body is somewhat insubstantial, like a fog, rendering it immune to non-magic attacks. At will (and even by reflex) the creature can make up to 50% of its body completely insubstantial. Thus it can use an arm to penetrate your armor, or let an arrow pass harmlessly through its...

Swallow a potion as a free action

As far as I can tell, the 3.5 SRD doesn't have any proscription against making potions out of personal-range spells. I'd take those feats, get a reach weapon, and drink a potion of true strike every round... Nothing like paying 50 gold for +10 attack, +20 damage!

I need some help with some ideas...

I would recommend watching the movie Dark City. It owns and you can get it on DVD for $10 these days. I like the idea of World Shaping being a skill; however, for balance reasons, it should probably be enabled by racial feats or class abilities, since there's no such thing as a class-exclusive...

    Gnome 2.1

I don't know if these PrCs are strong enough. Yes, the +1 bonus to save DC is strong, and so is the +2 Charisma bonus (another effective +1 to save DC), but losing two levels of casting ability is tough. The Cha bonus can help offset that at low levels, but eventually, you are going to get to...

    'wait, wait, attack' fighting style?

Vahktang, that's a pretty good idea. Sorry to keep beating on this dead horse, but I have one final question for all you folks who have commented on this thread. If you were to convert the Power Surge ability of the kensai (from Complete Warrior) into a feat, what prereqs would it have, and...

Plane of Radiance + Lance of Endless Night = ??

It's ridiculous, but doable. Dropping a weapon is a free action, right? So you whirlwind the kobolds and drop the lance. Next person picks it up, takes a swing at the torch, and drops it. Next person picks it up, takes a swing at the torch, and drops it. Keep going until it's gone.

    Template: mob

I may end up using the mob template in my campaign; I decided that the kobold wizard (who was defeated at the abandoned lizardfolk temple) is going to get acquainted with the war magic from a recent issue of Dragon and march on the mercenary fort. Then I looked at the numbers. I'm supposed to...

Ability Boost Items: A Crutch or a Tool?

As far as the distinction between 'crutch' and 'tool' goes, I would be willing to say that the 2nd ed AD&D gauntlets of ogre power (granting the character a specific Strength score, or does nothing if his Strength is already greater) fit the 'helps a weak person, useless to a strong person'...

    Stomp?

Naw, just go Duke Nukem 3D styles and Mighty Foot that shiot.* Personally, I don't like any form of attack being made as a move-equivalent action, unless it's controlling a spell or something like that. I would probably make it a bonus attack made at the start of a full attack. *I hate to...

    'wait, wait, attack' fighting style?

That's a good point. Unfortunately, my campaign is not of sufficient level for a threatening, yet not dominatingly powerful villain to have access to fifth-level spells slots and still fight half-decently in melee. But that may be a better approach than what I have presently been working on...

    monks and AoO

From the 3.5 SRD, under unarmed strike: "a monk may even make unarmed strikes with her hands full." From the 3.5 SRD, under flurry of blows: "When doing so, she may make one extra attack in a round at her highest base attack bonus, but this attack takes a –2 penalty, as does each other attack...

    Stomp?

One way to do it could be that you have a move which allows you to Pin an opponent who is prone with your foot. This would be exactly like a normal Pin, except that you may use melee weapons against the creature you've pinned without penalty (still gaining the bonus to hit it for being prone)...

The multiple choice version... do characters know their (and others) classes?

What about class levels? Since a wizard has to prepare his spells ahead of time, he knows exactly how much he can do at any given time, and no amount of willpower or effort will allow him to do any more. And then, one day, he wakes up in the morning and says, 'Hey, I can prepare several more...

D&D 3E/3.5 errata to move psiHB into 3.5?

Hey all, I was wondering if there have been any errata for converting the Psionics Handbook to 3.5. I ask this specifically because of hustle, which grants the user an extra partial action on her next round. Since partial actions no longer exist in 3.5, I was going to have it give her a...

Increasing the incentive for using advanced combat

I'd suggest looking in Complete Warrior, mostly the Tactical and Style feats. Combat Brute has some juicy combos with bull rush/attack and charge/power attack. Giantbane is both cinematic and powerful. Shock Trooper lets you combine bull rush and trip. And almost all the Style feats are very...

    beholderkin, eyespy (needs work)

Good ideas, Gezs. I edited my post to reflect them.

    beholderkin, eyespy (needs work)

This is a race I'm working on for my Spelljammer campaign. The PC's haven't met any of them before, but they probably will soon. I don't like the model of monsters-as-characters where you magically add a level adjustment to the monster's hit dice, especially since most racial hit dice are...
