    Would any dm's do this?

Clark411, I was imagining something very similar. I run a Spelljammer campaign, and so I can totally see the boxes being a sort of 'public service' operated by a group of Arcane, well-known about to heroes and villains, if not the general public. They make sure that there are always a fair...

    Alternate Spell Components...

One thing you could do would be to remove the material components for general casting. Then allow the various material components to be an option used for a bonus to the spell, maybe +1 save DC, or +1 caster level. Maybe even add your own 'clever' components for spells that don't have them...

    Final Fantasy D20?

I could have sworn that 8-bit Theater (http://www.nuklearpower.com) had a bunch of links to some people working on D20 Final Fantasy, but the site seems to be down at the moment. Maybe trying checking there in the morning.

    Lesser transformation spell...

I'm not sure about the arcane side of things, but Divine Favor has a similar effect to what you're describing, and it's first level. You don't get base attack bonus, but you do get a bonus to damage. I guess the problem is, around levels 3-5, Divine Favor seems pretty weak, but from 6 onward I...

Hey, rkanodia! Thank you very much!

    Sure thing. Glad to help!

Shot on the Run, Manyshot and stuff :)

No, the SRD doesn't say that making a ranged attack in a threatened square draws AoO. It says: Table: Actions in Combat does list "attack (ranged)", but only under the heading Standard Action. "Full attack" is explicitly stated as not drawing attacks of opportunity, under the heading...

Shot on the Run, Manyshot and stuff :)

To all you people who are saying that a full-round ranged attack draws AoO for every shot: I can't find ANYTHING in the SRD that even comes close to implying such a thing! The only place where ranged weapons drawing AoO is in the action table, and it says "attack (ranged)..... Yes", under the...

    Alternative Ranger Combat Styles

Silent Sentry Style 2nd - Alertness 6th - Stealthy 11th - ??? Man and Beast Style 2nd - Mounted Combat 6th - Ride-By Attack 11th - Spirited Charge Ally of the Wild Style 2nd - You are treated as being two levels higher for purposes of animal companions 6th - Spell Focus (conjuration) 11th -...

Shot on the Run, Manyshot and stuff :)

Look, I don't honestly think that Manyshot shouldn't draw an attack of opportunity. I just think it's silly (damn the most lawerly interpretation of the rules, and what Andy Collins says) that you can fire multiple arrows in the same amount of time as a single arrow, except when you move before...

Shot on the Run, Manyshot and stuff :)

So, like I posted earlier, look on the bright side: you can thus Multishot in the middle of a raging melee without any difficulties. After all, the SRD tells us that "attack (ranged)" draws AoO, but we've clearly established that Manyshot is not an attack action.

    Gez's Arcane Nifties Gathered

offhand thoughts Well, it would have to see playtesting to be sure. Personally, I tend to dislike spells and abilities that cost XP per use as a counterbalance to their strength, but without that cost, your staff would obviously be overpowered (especially with its low creation cost). Not...

    Gez's Arcane Nifties Gathered

I might try to run this idea (or something similar) past my DM; because his campaign tends to be very low on down-time, I have been struggling to find a way for my caster to store up extra power for those days when you just really need some extra kick.

Shot on the Run, Manyshot and stuff :)

I'm sure my ranger friends will be glad to know that Manyshot doesn't draw attacks of opportunity, since it isn't an attack action. I don't think this argument really holds up.

[Very very vile] The Blood Masks - Help me redesign them

Path of the Grid Red Net: The grid on your face may 'catch' incoming spells, giving you spell resistance of 5 + your character level. However, the symbol of the net has its own vulnerability; attacks made using piercing weapons are at +2 to hit you. Red Mirror: The panels on your face may...

[Very very vile] The Blood Masks - Help me redesign them

Oh. I hadn't seen the original prestige class, and for some reason I can't search the forum for it. One thing I hadn't thought about is that once you have closed your mouth, you will be unable to consume potions. That's pretty harsh just by itself.

[Very very vile] The Blood Masks - Help me redesign them

I wrote up an idea, but then I compared it to your example (a 10d6 breath weapon every three rounds!) and found it rather lacking. Let's try this again: Path of Two Masks: Hear No Evil: Once you close off your mouth, you may create silence, centered on yourself, at will, as a spell-like...

    A couple new weapon abilities...

My mistake, I could have sworn 'blessed' was used in Damage Reduction (like DR 15/blessed), but I was wrong.

    A couple new weapon abilities...

I think that these new modifiers are still too weapon-dependent; on a 20/x2 weapon, they are underpowered, but on a 18-20/x2 or a 20/x4, they are overpowered. And, I don't like the confusion of trying to figure out how all the other modifiers apply to an attack. Perhaps you could change the...
