Well - it would depend upon the paladin's God. I have a God in my own World Called Volark, God Of Righteous Fury... he'd approve. But Most other Gods wouldn't... so Paladin-boy isn't a Paladin anymore - dead fact.

I'd have to agree with everyone else, the only characters that you need to worry about are a cannon fodder dwarf, or a melee rogue with low Con/Dex/Str. Most other thigns can be used wisely to offset any weakness they might have...
