D&D 4E Everything You Wanted to Know About 4e

I've long since thought that "Psychic Robot" was a troll of some kind. Perhaps not an intentional one - but someone who is so completely embittered by 4E that he has to fill all of his posts with vitriol. Also, as an aside - someone on that other web site made a post attacking ENWorld for...

I'm going to knock you out..!

I have little problem with adventurers going for knock-out blows on their enemies. Heck, it makes for great RPG moments. But the one area I do have a problem is how easy it is. The rules state that if the damage you do to someone is enough to kill, you can instead decide to knock them...

    4E Economy Question: Apologies Upfront

Yeah, yeah. I'm sorry, okay? I know that talking about the economy in D&D is like talking about an incarcerated uncle when you're at the dinner table, but come on. I just have a small question. Please? Ok, based upon the prices for the services and goods in the Players Handbook, in your...

Mamacat's helpful hints for gaming with couples with or without kids

So each of these is a lesson learned, I take it. Which to me is really, really scary that #7 and #9 are on that list. The mind boggles. Good information here, though!

    D&D 4E My take on 4E Stealth

I wish I could bold this, colorize it, and then blast it into the brain of some people.

    Reviewing the Artificer

My world is very steampunkish. And while I like some of the things here, I can't help but be a bit sad that the Artificer isn't more... I dunno... mechanical? That's probably my own bias and hope talking there, I realize that. I see this class, and I think wow, I wonder what I could do trying...

    D&D 4E My take on 4E Stealth

Where do you get that definition of Stealth, Reed? The definition in 4E seems to be, "Make a Stealth check to conceal yourself from enemies, slink past guards, slip away without being noticed, and sneak up on people without being seen or heard." I can see what you're saying, but do you...

    D&D 4E My take on 4E Stealth

Well, that's a more logical approach, in my opinion. But personally I think it should be: Allies can grant cover Exception: Not for purposes of initiating stealth

    D&D 4E My take on 4E Stealth

Your blog is fairly clear to understand, and it uses most of what I've seen so far in attempts to clarify the matter. Where, in my opinion, you run into a problem is with this part: You should have stopped at "that it couldn't happen". Because that's true. And I'm going to state that the...

How will WOTC prevent "group" memberships to DDI?

This could be a problem. I would want to access DDI from both my home and work computer.

    Quick Combat Question

You are quite correct in your assumptions there. There are exceptions to this rule (hey! Of course!). To something like 1[W] you also can add: * Weapon Focus damage (+1) * Weapon Enchantment (+x) That's the two I can think of off the top of my head early in the morning before coffee. :)

    D&D 4E Dueling in 4E - with pistols

My campaign is very much flavored with steampunk, and I've written up some rules for firearms (slightly more powerful than a crossbow). My question is this - in a campaign with such victorian flavoring, sooner or later someone will 'demand satisfaction' and there will be a duel. Twenty paces...

Stalker0's Alternate Core Skill Challenge System: FINAL VERSION 1.8!

Hey Stalker - check out this http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dungeon - it's a new adventure from Dungeon magazine, and it has two examples of skill challenges.

Stalker0's Alternate Core Skill Challenge System: FINAL VERSION 1.8!

I like, I like! One thing off the top of my head. I really like that there is an increasing difficulty for Aiding Another (albeit still easy). But - the "Aid Another" game mechanic always is against DC 10. Perhaps it might reduce confusion if your mechanic is called something else? "Helpful...

couple questions (intimidate, temp HP, KotS, etc)

This is the problem with evil groups, and why they have left out that 'style' completely. It rarely works (and when it does it usually devolves into 'kill porn'). Motivating evil groups is way too difficult for DM's...
