How Do You Handle "Kicker" Damage?

But it says right in the power that it's a Cleric Feature, much like how it says "Feat Power" in the various divinity feats! :) But I won't argue this one beyond that, as I believe Healing Word, and all other cleric features with the healing keyword, should get the Healer's Lore bonus anyway...

How Do You Handle "Kicker" Damage?

For me, the difference is that the healing provided by Divine Power (the regeneration) is caused directly by the power. In the case of Divine Vigor, no healing was provided by the power. The power just refreshes the use of the Second Wind action. No, Divine Vigor did not heal the target...

How Do You Handle "Kicker" Damage?

Well, Prime Shot is a class feature for warlocks and rangers, so it's not unprecedented for the same ability to be a class feature for different classes.

How Do You Handle "Kicker" Damage?

I don't know what you're getting at, here. Paladin's and invoker's both have Channel Divinity as a class feature, and both have different uses for it. I suspect avengers will function similarly. If so, then if these three classes spend the feat, they all could use CD: Melora's Tide.

How Do You Handle "Kicker" Damage?

Well, Healer's Lore says "cleric powers with the healing keyword." Thus, by a strict reading, Healing Word should not get the extra benefit provided by Healer's Lore, because Healing Word is a class feature and not a power. However, I don't think anyone would argue that Healer's Lore doesn't...

How Do You Handle "Kicker" Damage?

I'm of the opinion that CD: Melora's Tide activates Healer's Lore (HL). Taking the feat opens up another way to use the CD cleric feature. So when a cleric uses CD: Melora's Tide, he is using a cleric class feature that grants useage of a power. Like Healing Word (HW), this power is granted...

How Do You Handle "Kicker" Damage?

For my part, I'd say no. The power did not grant healing. It just refreshed the usage of Second Wind. It's a similar scenario to Divine Armor, a level 16 power. Divine Armor has the healing keyword, but doesn't actually heal any damage (why they gave it the keyword, then, I don't know)...

Is the Fighter’s Combat Challenge an Opportunity Attack?

Ah, I see now. Thanks for the clarification!

How Do You Handle "Kicker" Damage?

Regarding Healer's Lore, the text for the class feature says "when you grant healing with one of your cleric powers that has the healing keyword, add your Wisdom modifier to the hitpoints the recipient gains." So I'd say that if the power has the healing keyword, the cleric adds his Wis mod to...

New D&D Mini Fails and then...

I would to (some minis is better than no minis!), but there are still no guarantees, particularly after Reaper's on line of prepaints failed.

Is the Fighter’s Combat Challenge an Opportunity Attack?

I don't understand what you mean here. Distracting Shield gives opponents a -2 to attacks when the fighter hits with his CC attack (and *not* OAs). Potent Challenge just lets the fighter add Con damage on a CC hit (again, *not* OAs) made with a two-handed weapon. Could you clarify? Not at...

Is the Fighter’s Combat Challenge an Opportunity Attack?

This is correct. Correct. Yes, this is correct, by the way I read the rules. CC doesn't *stop* their shift. But if they shift, you get a CC attack, and if they make, say, a ranged attack you get or OA. Yes, this is correct.

    Fighting a black dragon...

Area attacks shouldn't take penalties for not having line of sight, as they don't need it. All they need is line of effect. You do need to guess which squares the dragon is in, but if you guess correctly you're attack won't have any penalty. This is one situation where wizards are handy. :)

    Ranged Beastmaster Ranger Power Ideas

Here's a ranged beastmaster ranger at-will power I've thought up. Basically, it's designed so that if a target moves away from the beast (this includes shifting), the beast can slow it up. Prey-Harrying Shot Alerted by your ranged attack, your beast is ready to trip-up your foe if he tries...

Class Design: One Primary Attack Stat

For paladins, I was thinking about adding "oaths" as builds. "Oath of the Crusader" is the Str-second build, "Oath of the Protector" as the Wis-second build. It basically augment a few powers. But I'm not sure if I'm going to do it. Well, IMO, that kinda defeats the purpose of one primary...

    Bane? Alternative names for deities.

Perhaps. :) But by similar logic D&D's Bahamut should have his name changed to avoid any confusion with Bahamut's appearances in Final Fantasy!

Does Healing Word require a Healing Surge? Forked Thread: Ranger beasts

I play it such that if you don't have any surges left, you don't benefit from the various Holy/Inspiring/Majestic/whatever words. But because I feel like parsing rules ... ;) The the key word in this rule IMO is "and." It creates the condition that the additional hit points are linked to the...

    Bane? Alternative names for deities.

I'm toying with the idea of calling the god of war Baal in my campaign. It sounds fierce and oppressive, but it isn't obviously eeeeville sounding. And I'm willing to put up with Stargate SG-1 jokes and the obvious wordplay with "ball." :)

Monk a striker: Why? (Forked Thread: 3rd Party Poopers)

As a side effect, maybe. But there's no real incentive for the monster to stay where he is. Why not move closer to a target he's more interested in? It'll save him movement points later on. By this logic, the rogue who, seeing that the wizard is in danger, runs up to protect him by...
