World's Largest Dungeon in actual play [Spoilers!]

If you like Region A that much, then you'll probably really like the rest, so far A is probably my least favorite. Not that its bad, its been a lot of fun.. its pacing is somewhat skewed imo, and with the repeative nature of the darkmantles/rats it I think takes some of the coolness out of it...

    Recapturing 1st Edition Feelings

I'm not sure miniatures/battlemats slow things down. I've used them predominately through multiple editions, and various games. I'm probably an exception to the rule however, as I don't understand people's issues with AoOs, and I don't feel they slow much down if at all. I do heavly agree on...

    (Sigh) Another railroad ... (WotVB)

The best prewritten adventures I've ever read for anygame are probably those from AEG's 7th Sea. I've found no other adventures that come close. Now, that doesn't mean they are problem free or even neccesarly have the best writing, or even best over all stories. It is how they are presented and...

    Starting the World's Largest

I'm not sure if you'll want them to play two characters, its primarly designed for a party of 4. It depends on your number of players, if you are worried about how lethal it is, one option you can try is what I did. I pulled an old page from Dark Sun and had the players make up a character tree...

    D&D 3E/3.5 Is there a Parry in 3.5?

Actualy in the 3.0 DMG there is an optional rule very much in that flavor. Its called Defensive Roll, in escense what it does is to simulate any defensive sort of action it allows you to roll a d20 and add your modifiers to AC to the roll becoming your 'new AC' against that attack. Now, I know...

    Participation problem

Without the understanding of the plot surounding the various characters its hard to give specific advice for this case. I still think it'd be good to get direct feedback before and after the session. A good bit of other good advice has already been said, so I'll only add that perhaps you can...

    Participation problem

My suggestion would be at the begining of every session take some time to discuse the last session breifly, finding out what they liked/disliked and where they felt their characters could have shined a little more or what have you. Then at the end of every session ask them where they'd like to...

World's Largest Dungeon in actual play [Spoilers!]

No, I havn't really changed much ahead of time yet... just stuff on the fly. Primarily I'm just letting them get the feel for things, not throwing tons of traps or random encounters in. I think there is a good deal of roleplay oppertunity in there as is, though I may add more. The scenes with...

World's Largest Dungeon in actual play [Spoilers!]

My group after about 10 hours, of real time have passed about 4 days in the dungeon. Hacing completed a 4th of region A. So, I'm trying to take more pretime as i have a few more days until next session, to try and get everything figured out on how I want to handle the details. Thanks for the...

If you could try a RPG that ISN'T D&D...

Feng Shui (I'd like to try it, sounds excellent). 7th Sea (Excellent game, highly recommend the roll and Keep version. I'd think by the sound of it anyone he likes Feng Shui would probably enjoy it). Star Wars (though, I wouldn't mind trying the d20 ver, I'd like to break out my old d6 stuff...

we're taking on the world's largest dungeon!

If they really do a World's Largest City, I hope they take some cues from there old 7th Sea line's Freiburg set. Which, is probably one of the best, if not the best City supplement I've seen for any game.
