    D&D 5E MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

Some really great changes here. I'm going to have to stare and compare the new one to the previous one. I think I like the layout...now I just need to get used to the changes. Excellent implementation!

    D&D 5E MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

MPMB, what are your thoughts on combining the EXP box and Level box? To me, they're intregral to each other and should be combined. Is it too much of a hassle to change the page layout to accomplish this?

    D&D 5E MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

I see your point. Too much is too much. Having an all encompassing equipment list should suffice. However, if you choose to do it, I can see taking the EXP section and move it to the upper left of the first page and tieing it to the right of the Level box. Label the new section that you...

    D&D 5E MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

I like this option as well. There's more space for additional equipment on a later sheet so why not add two lines for tools and two lines for instruments on sheet 2?

    D&D 5E The DM's Helper...all the twists and cul-de-sacs of a DM's mind.

I'd never even heard of this until now. I'll give it a look. Thanks!

Adobe Reader XI also allows you to save a copy. Check your version. Also, I find that when I'm in an editable field, I have to click into an open space before the option to save becomes available. Give that a try. I'm surprised FoxIt is working for you...it never seemed to work for me. Odd.

    D&D 5E The DM's Helper...all the twists and cul-de-sacs of a DM's mind.

In short: No, Interesting, and Yes. The gamers at our table are more interested in showing up, showing off, and showing what their PCs are made of. There's no cooking, just the tearing of bags of chips, the scarfing of oreo cookies, and of course, the guzzling of Mountain Dew! I like the Iron...

    D&D 5E The DM's Helper...all the twists and cul-de-sacs of a DM's mind.

Great input and great questions. I'm not trying to create the debate, rather simply offer the storyline as an option for a plot. All rulings and play are up to the individual DM. I think you've offered quite a bit that I haven't thought about and I can certainly see the validity of your...

    D&D 5E MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

I can't think of another character sheet that has offered so many autofill options as this one. Wanting more from something that's this good is understandable. But, if improvments are going to 'overcode' the sheet so that it's too bulky or too slow to load, I'd favor simplicity over...

    D&D 5E The DM's Helper...all the twists and cul-de-sacs of a DM's mind.

This is also something I'm interested in. I have several generally fleshed out plots that I've GM'd 'on the fly' but I'd love to get them out in print. I have a campaign called VonBargen's Bargain. (Any first name here) VonBargen is a dealer in artifacts. The PCs come across him on the road...

    D&D 5E MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

I agree with MPMB on this. Although I will likely have the digital copy open on my laptop at the gaming table, the default would be to have my best AC printed on the sheet at all times. However, because it's a matter of subtraction vs addition, I can really see it both ways. But for...

    D&D 5E The DM's Helper...all the twists and cul-de-sacs of a DM's mind.

Being rather new to enworld (but not role playing), I've had little time to dig into all the different threads. I've been reading a fair amount of the recent posts in the 5e threads and have gleaned quite a bit of good stuff. Had there been an obvious repository of information, I would...

    D&D 5E The DM's Helper...all the twists and cul-de-sacs of a DM's mind.

I'm interested in the gaming styles, hints, suggestions, and storylines of any DM on the forums. Our group tends to play a certain way and I'm looking to add some salt and pepper to the mix, give it a big stir, and let the players taste something new (yes, I love to cook too). Feel free to...

    D&D 5E Current take on GWM/SS

Stepping back...isn't to the party's advantage to have a heavy hitter (or hitters) in order to help advance the party's goals? I put it on the DM to make all characters integral to the group regardless. As both player and DM, I can honestly say there's always going to be a rule or feat or...

D&D 5E Help me name a magic item! (With a story for your trouble).

I usually like mixing the item with the name of the god. In this case it's 'Bahumut's Will'. Or 'Bahumut's Judgement'. I enjoying naming weapons as well. I'm rolling up a barbarian and he's going to wield a maul. He's named it "Blood Brother". It's not gifted by the gods or anything but...

    D&D 5E Current take on GWM/SS

I see your points and I can agree in part. 1. Yes, feats are optional. That's one of the poll options...get rid of feats. Personally, I don't like this option. The players at my table like the variance in character creation. 2. The time to review the rules isn't really my issue. It's...

    D&D 5E Current take on GWM/SS

It's my opinion that you can houserule anything in the book. However, once you houserule it, you have to be prepared to use it on either side of the DM screen. That goes to the players and the DM. I voted in favor of "The problem isn't that bad; use the feats as-is" because: 1) Changing a...

    D&D 5E MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

Fantastic! And yes, I agree...Character Generator is almost what you've provided here, but stick to calling it a sheet. I don't think you're getting into deep rough patches of violation of copyright...there's plenty of freedom in copyright law where you're allowed to quote portions of a text...

D&D 5E If the characters are super optimized should the monsters be boosted too?

I love this too! For instance: DMing intelligent creatures means that they're smart enough to know your fighter's fighting style, your mage's weakness, or how to avoid opportunity attacks. A creature with an intelligence of, say, 12, will succeed on a d20 roll if it rolls below its INT score...

D&D 5E If the characters are super optimized should the monsters be boosted too?

I really like what you're saying here. The trick is in the mentality of your player. I have a player in my group that will ALWAYS min/max no matter what you do...and then complain that a) it's not challenging enough, or b) I'm nerfing him to make the challenge too difficult. The changes I made...
