Why are they making demi-humans taller?

Well there appears to be a suggestively-dressed halfling woman on the cover of Dragon 285 - at least, she's a thief and it's an issue dedicated to halflings. I don't know if anyone was charged over it though. I remember a comment when that issue came out that the cover suggested the halfling's...

    Dungeons, Dragons, and Demographics

What on earth is there to be abashed by? As far as I've seen, this is the only site where I can discuss 4e without being drowned in threadcraps.

    From R&C: Fighters & Armor

But that "woodsman" baggage is also an out-of-combat schtick, a personality, a theme - things which every class except the fighter has. I'm one of those who are wondering about what the fighter does outside of battle. Is he just a useless lump? Reaper Steve, does R&C say anything about the...

    Dungeons, Dragons, and Demographics

I don't think you need to be a demographer to realize that some people were playing before 1e.

    Races and Classes--I has it!

This sounds like what we've heard about 4e multiclassing. Does the book say this is replacing multiclassing, or are the class training feats in addition to a seperate multiclassing system?

    D&D 4E Monte Cook on 4E

I don't find it very surprising that a designer says he prefers the system that he designed. It's like Gary Gygax saying he likes AD&D 1e. And I get the feeling, perhaps unfounded, that Monte was the source of a lot of the 3e gaming philosophy, in terms of the complexity and simulationism of...

    LOVE the New Covers!

Thunderspire Labyrinth is supposed to be set in a ruined minotaur city, so perhaps it's some kind of fiendish minotaur. Or they've added big tails to 4e minotaurs. Edit: And that fire giant with his pet hellhounds should be on the cover of MM1.

What Do We Know About Clerics?

There was this bit in the PC Roles article: Someone (I can't remember who) suggested that the holy symbol and holy word attacks are the in-game terms for the cleric's per-encounter or per-day abilities. As long as what they do aren't called "spells" I'll be happy. There was also a quote in...

    Design & Development: Elite Bulette

There will be less AoO's because they're called "Opportunity Attacks" now! Seriously, there do seem to be a fair few OAs there. Did they say that AoOs will be harder to provoke, or that fewer actions would provoke AoOs? I can't recall. If it was the second, then two of the AoOs we see are...

    Halflings

This reminds me of the discussion of the early art releases:green dragon, Re/Generation and Victory (and Looting). People were arguing whether the rogue figure was a halfling or a short human woman. I thought human at the time but now halfling looks a lot more likely. I also get the impression...

So, eladrin's can teleport around? ..nail...coffin...rogue already obsolete?

Darkvision It was in kunadam's Races and Classes leak on Gleemax: Kunadam said the flavoured class bit is supposition based on his reading of the book, it's not outright stated in there.

So, eladrin's can teleport around? ..nail...coffin...rogue already obsolete?

Warlocks could already do this in 3.5: This at-will short range dimension door was quite useful in Age of Worms, and did allow us to circumvent traps some of the time, but all it really did was allow the wizard, cleric and bard to conserve their limited use Dimension Doors.

Rodney Thompson's Playtest Report on Gleemax

Well, so much for the GWA theory... I take it that this was a little copper dragon?

It could be any feat though. I was more interested that they are still renaming things at this late stage - given the almost universally negative response to GWA I wouldn't be surprised if they changed it.

    New WOTC computer game annoucement

Moderators please delete this. I found this press release on a computer rpg site: I don't think it can be Star Wars, since Lucasarts still owns electronic IP. Magic or D&D?

Rodney Thompson's Playtest Report on Gleemax

Unless you have a party of eladrin! On the other hand, this may be a once per encounter power, which could mean your party of eladrin teleport into the Room of Death with a locked door behind them. On the third hand, if one race is getting this sort of ability, how good are the other races?

Rodney Thompson's Playtest Report on Gleemax

As the original poster, I found that a Wizard character getting a feat renamed was fairly interesting, given that the Golden Wyvern Adept seems to be the single most contentious issue on this board right now.

Rodney Thompson has a playtest report from his experience in Chris Perkins campaign. A part: Perhaps Golden Wyvern Adept is now Shaping Adept?
