D&D 4E suggestions for 4e ideas easy enough to HR now?

I've just implemented Second Wind in my 3.5E campaign and I've to say that it changes a lot, and for the better. With it, PCs can keep on fighting when the "5-minute day" is over, and the cleric isn't a walking band-aid anymore. I use a wound system too, meaning that, if a single source deals...

Your preference for how "fragile" 1st-level character should be

Because if I house-rule weaker 1st-level PCs, then I have to house-rule weaker threats (because a CR1-equivalent threat would be designed for "1st-level+" characters, not for my house-ruled ones); then I'd have to house-rule PC advancement, and go on an on... And, if I have to house-rule so...

Your preference for how "fragile" 1st-level character should be

I prefer, as DM and as a player, weak 1st-level characters. In fact, as weak as possible. Why? If 1st level us too weak for my tastes, I can always begin at 3rd-4rd level. If 1st level is too tough, I can't get it any weaker. So, it's a matter of having the option available.

Interesting. That specific bit reminds me how a successful save usually halves damage ;)

D&D 4E 4e Races and Classes: "Why we changed the gods"

If instead of "this is a list of the gods in the D&D World", the PHB list of gods states something akin to "this is a list of suitable gods for PC clerics", there'll be no problems. As simple as that.

AOO's have to go, or be changed

I think AoO of some sort will be (or at least should be) in 4E, and I thinkt it might read more or less like this: "Once per turn you can make an attack as an inmediate action targeting an opponent against who you have combat advantage". We know that "combat advantage" is a term adopted by 4E...

    Wyvern Concept Design

I'm beginning to hate the word "wyvern" with all my heart. It seems that wherever I look, there's that f*****g word, waiting for me to read it... :(

    Fluff vs Crunch

Bigby's Crushing Hand is a hand that crushes. Melf's Acid Arrow is an arrow made of acid. Emerald Fungus Worshipper lets you... ehm... :P

    Fluff vs Crunch

"Good" is the keyword here. I can write rules or fluff for hours. Writing good rules or fluff is the tricky part. Fortunately, we don't need good fluff: just write us some critters to kill and take stuff from! :D

Crisis of Infinite Torils? I think I've seen something like that before... World will live... Worlds will die... And ze game will be ze same!! :D

Why is Forgotten Realms the first setting?

Tieflings could easily find a place in the Empire of Iuz because of its once high demon population. Dragonborn are a little trickier, but I prefer having things in a core book that I won't use to not having things I'd like/need to use. I'm, therefore, more concerned about the lack of...

    D&D 4E Not going to 4e

Most probably I'll buy the core books, take what I like (second wind, wizard implements, maybe streamlined feats/skills/races) and houserule it into my 3.5 games. I've become too used to this edition to push it apart in favor of the new shiny thing... ... But I'm too much of a geek to not...

New Design & Development: Paladin Smites!

The first actual crunch I see from 4E, and it has to be an awful gamist design. If I ever run 4E, now I know I'm banning or dratically altering the paladin class. If the other ones are equally nonsense, I'm afraid I'll pass :(

D&D 4E What would make you decide against 4e?

I'll almost surely buy the 3 core books just to read them. I'll use them instead of my loved 3.5 ones if: - 4E plays faster than 3.x without removing any of the options available to characters and DMs. - I can still run the same kind of campaigns I run in 3.x (mostly Greyhawk-y or JRPG-ish...

    New Design & Development: Feats

We don't know if a ranger has to be a tree-hugger. It seems like class abilities are going to be more like special powers you can choose as your character gains levels, but without having (or being able) to take all of them. I'd actually like it a lot if it were like that; something similar to...

Favorite and Least Favorite 4th Edition Elements

Pro: Faster gameplay and DM prep. Con: Flashy per day/per encounter/at will powers for everyone. I'd prefer if 4E supported different playstyles.
