    Best Virtual Tabletop Software?

You might also try MapTool at http://rptools.net , it's an open source project and has the features you've listed (although we'd need to flesh out the die rolling for you). It has very good in-game drawing tools that let you create insanely large maps. It also has a unique line of sight engine...

What's Wrong with Virtual Tabletop Play?

Exactly :) MT does this, you just start up a MT instance and File->Start Server, then have other players connect with File->Connect to server from your local network or across the internet. Please feel free to contact me directly (information is in my profile, or PM me at the rptools forums)...

    Mapping Tools

When you say mapping programs, do you mean programs whose end product is a raster image (like jpg, png, or whatever), or a virtual space to move tokens on a background map ?

    Mac based mapping applications?

Hi ! Trevor from rptools.net here. Thanks for the kind words all. Just a note that maptool is geared toward both online and offline play. It even has a fullscreen mode if you are using a dual head or projector setup. We're always looking for ways to improve, we'd love to have your input...

    Os X Map software?

MapTool To be fair, although MapTool supports building maps on-the-fly, it's primary function is a map _sharing_ tool, not a map making tool :)
