Which could have very well served as the shock comedy blog. People use terms interchangeably.

    Recent Dragon Mag Article Pulled?

Actually, Uri commented somewhere that those quotes were posted on a shock comedy blog that he used to run while attending school. Funny that Kynn failed to mention that. Oh well.

    Pros and Cons

As someone who likes 4E, I am rather critical of its failings. First, PROS: 1. It's simple to create your own material. 2. The technical support is great. 3. Freeform roleplaying with the occasional dice roll takes up the majority of non-combat play. 4. Artifacts are better. 5. Monster roles...

WFRP3 in playtest..are they going the way of the MMO?

Yep. I like WHFRP but I always thought WHQ was a much better WH game and that WHFRP was THE Adventures of a Simpleton RPG.

An update: We have yet to have our first game. Currently, we are scheduled to play on July 11th (with a possible rescheduling to the 12th, a Sunday). There are 3 definites but I would like at least one more player onboard before we begin, so please contact me if you're interested.

    Should Level Top Out?

I think 1E, 2E, and 3E were great 1st to 12th level games. I think 4E (paragon paths, epic destinies, and all) should be condensed to that range as well.

Curse of the Crimson Throne Game (Online w/ Maptools and Skype)

As the week comes to a close, the game is more likely to start on June 21st. Now, that is Father's Day, so if there are going to be scheduling problems, I could instead run on Saturday afternoon (June 20th). Prospective players, let me know what works for you.

Curse of the Crimson Throne Game (Online w/ Maptools and Skype)

This is a 3.5E D&D campaign where we will be playing through the Curse of the Crimson Throne adventure path. Time, tool, and player-wise, I would like to hold game sessions on Sunday afternoons from 1 PM to 6 PM EST bi-weekly using both MapTools and Skype for five players. The main books we...

A Modular Approach to Solving High Level Game Woes

The best approach is to scale everything bad to old edition power levels; a balor is a 12th level threat and not the 20th level blashempy-spamming monster that 3.5e made it out to be. Besides, the 12th+ level mechanics were always poorly considered(remember, the highest level PC in the Greyhawk...

    Exalted, the 4er transform

I'm slowly getting back into Exalted after abandoning it for poor design choices after the Exalted 2nd edition core rulebook and those look like good ideas. I would also propose Essence being HP; if your opponent runs out, the next attack that hits kills them unless some persistent soak effect...

The Lowdown on Anima: Beyond Fantasy

Well, it's a good game with crap translation and very flexible character generation.

So when D&D isn't for me, what is?

If you go with Fantasy HERO, you should allow check out KillerShrike's site here as well.

Character Creation - Simplified or Detailed?

I prefer streamlined character creation. This can mean very simple (OD&D) or little book referencing (HERO).

    Roles - do they work?

Roles work in 4E. I do not like them but they work. In previous editions though... oh please. Not only will I say they do not work, I will also add they did not exist. The insistence that a classical edition D&D party would operated anything like a MMO party is nonsense and adopting such...
