How do you deal with whiny players?

I let the whiners make their complaints, then try to shut them up once they start over. If the complaint is fair I try to deal with the problem. If the complain is unfair I say so and ignores future complaints.

Serpent Kingdoms - What Are You Doing With It?

I'm not using it, but I enjoy reading the realmslore section. I hope to use it when I get around to run the Dungeon Cauldron series. With SS (with its realmslore from the North) and some minor tweaking I should be able to set it in Neverwinter, which I think is great. The realmslore from the...

    Define "low-magic"

I run a "low magic" game from time to time, and find it very enjoyable. Here's my take on the subject: 1) I do like magic shops for a number of reasons, so I keep them, but they are organized by the church of the god of commerce, which has a number of sinister agendas going on. Mages never have...

    Unused tools?

I have never used counterspelling in my games. That's it. Everything else have mentioned here have been used. I especially thing the NPC stats are great. Metamagic are moderately used, but out epic campaign use empowered and quickened spells routinely. Empower Spell and Extend Spell are...

Why _DON'T_ You Buy Dragon Magazine?

I recently decided to stick to my local gamestore when my subscriptions expired. I eagerly await each new issue of Dungeon but today only buy Dragon every now and then. I have all the crunch I need, unless I am looking for something every specific (very rarely), although new monsters is always...

Those groups where no one ever dies

Those groups where no one ever dies

I find that games where the DM does not pull any punches very rewarding as long as everybody understands the social contract between players and DM. I run two games on-and-off. The first one is a goodguy FR game where the characters are heroes, and the players can expect to be able to handle...

What would you like to see WotC publish next?

I have crunch to last me a lifetime, so I want setting specific info and adventures. The lineup for 2005 so far did nothing to me, except that the FR stuff looked extremely cool. Boyd doing Waterdeep is a dream come true. Likewise, the empires book is something I've been hoping to see for quite...

    Best FR Paperback Novel?

City of Ravens The City of Ravens by Richard Baker is my favorite FR novel so far. I was pleasantly surprised to see crunchmeister Baker produce a novel full of action, intrigue and romance with a swashbuckling rogue/wizard as the main character. The plot was kinda weak, but Baker obviously...

    all-published module campaign

I think it is a great idea. When I planned my current campaign I outlined a story using published adventures to figure out what I wanted to do. I strayed from the outline very quickly (something I now regret), but I do believe planning around published stuff is a great way to save time and force...
