From what I could tell, 7th level is a bit of a dead level, other than getting a +1 to your Second Wind and whatever your class gives you. Cal would also like a few smoke grenades. They would be useful to provide concealment when he has to try to stabilize dying companions.

Not bad at all. It's basically two free feats, if you count the +1 to attack.
