Just note that he has really high Fortitude and Reflex defenses. His Will defense is pretty low. Have you used Mind Trick yet? That could be fun, he's probably their leader right now... maybe you could suggest that he and his troops surrender considering how poorly they are doing. ;)

That works. I might suggest you want to review some of the other races and change their basic benefit to that as well. Granting advantage on a skill as a racial bonus may be excessive unless the race is really known for that specific thing, in my opinion (I can't really recall any races in 5E...
