4th Edition Dungeons & Dragons Preview Demo

I'm running a short 4th Edition Dungeons & Dragons preview demo this coming Saturday (May 17th) at Gallery of Champions in Fayetteville, Arkansas. We'll play through a few encounters so you can get a feel for how the skill challenge and combat systems work in 4e D&D. I'll start the demo at 3pm...

    Preorder, cancel, preorder, cancel etc

I cancelled my pre-order from Amazon and pre-ordered them from my FLGS. Fitz, you're not competing with those guys at all. You're working under a completely different business model. So use your strengths to win those pre-orders, just like my FLGS did. What are those strengths? Here are the...

What will you/do you use for marks?

I'm using a set of condition cards that I print up on cardstock. I list the condition text from the compilation PDF right on the card so it's easy to remember what each condition does. If a player gets Marked, I just hand him the marked card and slap a post-it note on it with the name of the...

Laying out your dungeon - advice?

I've been making and printing my own tiles on cardstock at the local UPS Store. I group them in file folders and put them in a big file storage box. The file storage box has plenty of room for my books, dice bag, pencil box, and other accessories, so all I have to do is grab it and go.

    Xp question for WotC folks

I know there's not an issue with having a 1st character in a group of 2nd level characters. I ran another preview adventure last night for some friends online and played a 1st level warlord with their 2nd level characters. I really didn't enjoy playing the warlord, but he was able to hold his...

Will you DM or play in pick up games?

Hey, Graf. I like MapTool because it's simple, does only what it needs to, and is stable. It lets you load up an image as a map, view a grid over it, and adjust that grid to match that on the map. Then you slap some tokens down on the map and they stay within the grid lines. Any of the...

Will you DM or play in pick up games?

I know what you mean about OpenRPG, Sphyre. I used it a few times, but it was like pulling teeth. For the past couple of weeks, I've been running 4e preview adventures for a couple of friends online using MapTools for our virtual tabletop and Skype for voice chat. It's working great. I'm...

    Character and Monster Tokens

Yeah, I saw those one day, Mourn. They look cool. I'll probably buy the circle punch from them if I can't find one at Hobby Lobby. I think I'm just going to hand out cards with the conditions and what their effects are instead of trying to use markers for it. Prone? Take a card. Hand it...

    Character and Monster Tokens

Dragonblade: I hope you're right. I would love to have the official monster manual artwork on them. Novem5er: Yeah, I'm sure that's what they're thinking, but I don't think it would impact their mini sales at all. Some people buy the minis and some people just don't. I like minis and...

    Character and Monster Tokens

Hey, Nytmare! Thanks for sharing those token sheets with me. They're great. My email address is dathalas [at] gmail [dot] com. I like the circular tokens, so I was thinking about buying a 1" circle punch and gluing them to 1" washers for some heft. I was also thinking about putting a red...

    Character and Monster Tokens

Zulithe: Thanks for reminding me about those galleries. I take a peek at them every now and then, but I didn't realize they had so many. Montkiva: Thanks for pointing me to Fiery Dragons. They look like they have what I need. Hussar: Wow. Thank you! I never saw those on the rptools...

    Character and Monster Tokens

Hey, Christopher! I already use TokenTool and it's great. But it's also time consuming to find the artwork to use for each creature. I'm looking for token packs that have a lot of the basics covered so I don't have to continually hunt down the artwork.

    Character and Monster Tokens

I'm going to be running several 4e preview adventures next month and I'd like to have some cool player character and monster tokens to use for them. I'm looking for full-color 1" tokens that can be printed out. I would love for them to have some decent artwork on them in a portrait style, but...

Will you DM or play in pick up games?

Sure, I'll play in and DM some pickup games. That's one of the reasons I'm looking forward to using DDI. It's like getting one of the coolest parts of conventions in your own home. :)

loseth: Thanks for the links. Those look like really interesting posts and I'll definitely check them out this weekend. Asmor: Thanks for the recommendation. It's not quite what I'm looking for right now, but I'll keep it in mind.

    World Building Resources

Tewligan: Thanks for the info on The World Builder's Guidebook! It sounds like it might be a great fit for me. Ainatan: Thanks for the great links. The Domesday Book link will really help. I'll check out The Cartographer's Guild website as soon as I have time. Nytmare: Guns, Germs, and...

    World Building Resources

TerraDave, Ktulu, and Lackhand: Thanks for recommending A Magical Medieval Society. What do you like what about it? What's in it that would help me? Gundark: Thanks for recommending the Dungeoncraft articles. I'd forgot about those. Saishu_Heiki: Thanks for the link to the Dungeoncraft...

    World Building Resources

I'm just starting to build my own campaign idea around the Points of Light concept. The "Simulationsist Question on PoL" thread has some great info in it, but I want more! :) Are there any great world building resources out there? I'm looking for info on stuff like how communities form, what...

D&D 4E Can anyone help design a logo for all 4e meetup groups?

Hi, everyone! I've been watching 4e D&D slowly take shape and I like what I see. I'm really looking forward to playing and DMing D&D again. I wanted to like 3e, but all the bookeeping sucked the enjoyment right out of it for me. I want to thank all of you who created the PHP Lite, the...
