That still shouldn't be a problem. If the "good" guys can get ahead of the PC's and lay in wait at the farm house or in a barn, the battle could be fought in the yard, limiting the area and places for concealment....

Do the good guys know where the pilliaging is going to take place next, is there a logical sequence or dirction to the destruction?? My point is, if the good guys have an idea where the next attacks will be, could a messenger have arrived ahead of the PC's and have the town ready to fight?? IF...
