Results for Brain in a Jar Experiment

Yeah, I'll likely be going for levels of Psion in the end. Any ideas for recommended powers? Anyone?

Results for Brain in a Jar Experiment

Thanks to everyone who pitched in with ideas about the Brain in a Jar on the other thread. While I haven't added levels of Psion to this little guy yet, I still want to get opinions on him. Alright, after playing around with it a bit, I've come up with this. Now, there are no hard and fast...

Looking to Beef Up Brain in A Jar NPC

I was also thinking of housing the Brain in a Jar inside of a Brain Golem's body, or perhaps mounted atop it's shoulders. Could the brain inside the jar actually be that of a mind flayer, aboleth or other powerful psionic creature?

Looking to Beef Up Brain in A Jar NPC

Anything else? How about the fluid that the brain in a jar sits in acting as a potion that will have certain special effects. What about sorceror levels or giving it the still spell feat or a still spell ability, so that it can cast spells, like a demi-lich?

Looking to Beef Up Brain in A Jar NPC

These are all very good ideas. I especially like the idea of the brain being mounted onto a golem and the brain being that of a powerful psionic creature. I do not have the Psionics Handbook, nor do I use them very often in my own campaign, but the Brain in a Jar is just too cool to pass up...

Looking to Beef Up Brain in A Jar NPC

See, the problem with using Still Spell and Silent Spell is that they up the caster level of the spell, which makes it even harder to use higher level spells, especially ones that will damage/challenge the PCs. Are there any good templates, advancement schemes out there?

Looking to Beef Up Brain in A Jar NPC

I really like the imagery and the idea behind the Brain in a Jar, which was introduced in Libris Mortis. However, I'm having a hard time beefing the monster up and advancing it for a higher level party. Adding class levels becomes a probloem because, well, it's just a brain and that has obvious...

    Stormwrack: Buying?

I picked it up yesterday and - after reading Sadstorm and frostburn - am only slightly disappointed. It has lots of stuff in it that I liked - the Legendary Captain and Scarlet Corsair PrCs, a few new feats that were especially cool, some nice spells, a cool domain and a small number of cool...

[FR] Undermountain modules - any good?

IMHO, the original Undermountain boxed set is one of the greatest large scale adventures of all time. You can tell all the hard work and love that Ed Greenwood put into it, because it just drips from each page. Skullport is a nice supplement as well, but it's not an "A" level product, like the...

    Implosion

I always viewed the implosion spell as an effect that - visually - just sees the target creature messily fold in upon itself, almost like the creature was being crushed into a tiny space by invisible forces, screaming and spraying volumes of blood & gore along the way. I think it makes for a...

What 3.0/3.5/D20 D&D Adventures are the Best? List them here!

Rappan-Athuk by Necromancer Games is top of my list. City of the Spider Queen by WOTC was a fun ride too. Both are good for mid to high level play.

    An Item a day

I'm not big on the pricing thing, but if anyone wants to price those items go right on ahead. Nerull’s Rotting Mantle - Sacred only to the faith of Nerull (and shunned by all others), these disgusting yet potent magical cloaks are made up entirely of living flies, swarming all over the user...

    An Item a day

Here's a few, from my own homebrew....... Ring of Ineffable Evil - Popular among the high-ranking clergy of both the faith of Hiisi and Beshalla, these rings offer potent magical protection against the forces of good. The user sheds an unholy aura effect, as the spell and is granted damage...
