Ceramic DM- The Renewal ( Final judgement posted)

Spoiler coding for non-judge comments sounds great. And one thread is a good thing for those of us in 56kLand. :) Feel better, Orchid Blossom.

Aye, Berandor, I agree. Just because the judges are out on life issues doesn't mean comments/posts need to stop! Perhaps everyone had a hot weekend and is still recovering? (Though all I'm recovering from is weeding the jungle I call a back yard.) Here's one for restart, based on some of your...

Thanks Gulla & Marauder X! I appreciate all you comments. Looking back, I agree the train was uncharacteristic of Dimble, but at that point in the writing I just wanted to get him there (and I've always wanted to take the trans-Siberian myself). I hate that particular typo, it's popped up for...

Round 3 - Thorod vs Mythago SUMMIT ‘So few,’ Dimble thought, looking out over the crowd. He’d been hoping for twice as many, at least. ‘So few, but maybe it will be enough.’ There was a merrow from Ireland, nude as always, red haired and as tall as a mortal; there were a handful of pale...

I'm beginning to believe you may be right. Carl Jung would love this contest, out of eight quarter-finalists, two had stories completely set in Thailand and two had stories that ended in Thailand. Even Merrick would say that was too much coincidence!

Comments: r2, Mythago vs Eeralai Two really good stories, so I thought I'd comment, though it feels a little weird to be commenting on work by authors I may still be facing. (If anyone objects, let me know.) THE OTHER SIDE is very interesting, and the musical element adds a welcome layer of...

Thank you, judges! The competition in this thing is strong, and I never expected to make it to the semi-finals (the Final Four, Mythago, et al, okay, NOW I'm nervous). And thanks, Marauder X, for your comments, and your perception/reality tale. Yes, now that I've discovered Merrick, I have a...

I like it. Including the 'picture chooser' being the tie-breaker, but not doing critique. Makes sense. (Though your critique has been great, and it already IS fun!)

I agree with Eeralai and Orchid Blossom, a rough guideline would be great. I'd give it 7-8 days for the first round though, sixteen stories to judge must be a bear, and 5-6 for subsequent rounds. And I agree that critique should be included with judgments, the critique is the best part! Hard to...

Thanks, I appreciate that. I may not have kicked your butt though, who knows who the judges will like, magic glasses or magic elders. And we both spent some time in Bangkok, spending Bhats, gotta love synchronicity! I saw picture two, and something in me said "go Hammett/noir", who knows why...

I couldn't agree more. The first day, at least, is just trying to find something, anything. Wandering around the house (or the supermarket) mumbling 'I got nuthin'...I got nuthin'...' I think 72 hours is right on. Makes it plenty hard, but if it were 48 I'm not sure I could ever come up with...

Round 2 - Thorod vs Marauder X TOTAL ECLIPSE I belonged on the streets of L.A., what in hell was I doing here? It was all Chad’s fault, Chad and his cosmic ‘Fate.’ He said it was meant to be, that there was a purpose here that I couldn’t see. Bull. Yeah, maybe his boyfriend left him the same...

Um, 'cause I'd been writing for thirteen straight hours and was brain dead? Good catch, if I expand this one (which I'm leaning towards doing) I will fix that.

Wow, thanks for all the great critique (especially Piratecat, whose negative points I agree with, except that Angela doesn't go back to CERN, chalk that one up to unclear phrasing rather than a logic flaw). I really liked Rodrigo's ghouls, I'll chalk this one up to beginner's luck. I am ready...
