4E can dictate whichever they want, or nothing at all, and people will do what they want, same as in 3.5 and in all previous editions.

To me one of the defining parts of a 1E or even 2E adventure was the inherent randomness, and coolness of the dungeon. Randomness means the 35% or XX% chance something would happen. The players did not know, and the DM was not supposed to know. The whole bad things happen to good people...

Very true, skirmish is very very nice with any warlock. They would complement each other amazingly well. You might want to add a few scrolls also to do things the warlock cannot.

Be sure to check the requirements for these feats. I think you are assuming you will qualify at 3rd level, but you will not, as Sorcerors do not get 2nd level spells till 4th.
