I think the ape should be large. Large is a great tactical advantage for a melee/grapple combatant, and an ap@e is surely larger than 90% of humans. Count in that that size is mostly muscle and it makes sense.

First, taking a level in cleric and Domain spontenaity is a great way to get around the 1/day problem. One thing I think the last couple of posters are missing is the benefits of having a spell on your class list. Sure, you can only cast it one per day, but drag out a wand and you can cast it...

An excelletn house rule for PA is to go back to the 3.0 version. Gets rid of the cheesy 2:1 tradeoff, and opens the game up for lighter fighters like scouts and rogues. 3.5 PA was a bad change IMHO.

Dungeons have always made the msot sense for high-level magical items and enemies to be. Sure a bunch of goblins can camp in the woods, but why would a CR10+ monster? It woud change the whole area for better or worse. Dungeons help to confine that kind of influence.

I always admire Rich's tendency to make plot-importnat strips simple and impressive. Like this one, only half-dozen panels, and virtually no dialogue, but it says so much.

Complete Arcane or divine, I forget

12 ranks so from level 9, you can quicken, empower and extend all day. That is my main reason for saying the warmage's ability is best, for it really really expands their options. Makes them far more attractive for more than 5 levels.

I think in D&D 3.5 you need to be better atthe rules than many systems. SOem systems are very forgiving, but D&D is more and more complicated each month, and you need to knwo what is going on. I lurk on the Optimization boards over at WOTC boards just to know what new tricks are coming up next...

I agree, and would probably not allow it either. But by RAW, also note the wisdom requirements which does something to balance it.
