    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder

They don't have to. Paizo does not need near the same level of sales that WotC needs to have successful product lines.

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder

Keith, Soon the disclaimers in your sig will be longer than your actual posts. ;) That said, thanks for lending your expertise around these parts.

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder

Actually, the line of products - Pathfinder (Adventure Paths), Pathfinder Modules and Pathfinder Chronicles - have been in production for almost a year now... and are most likely what has caused the Pathfinder RPG to be a worthwhile venture. Paizo is (and has been) producing adventure paths...

    Pathfinder 1E pathfinder skill system

I don't really like assigning ranks, so I voted Alpha, even though the Pathfinder RPG skill system is currently in revision (which it needed). Hopefully, I will prefer it after the revision as well.

D&D 4E What was Paizo thinking? 3.75 the 4E clone?

Sorry, DM.... :heh: Thanks for the heads-up on the swampland too, I was just about to make Shadewyn an offer. I guess I'll have to settle for the summer house in Greenland now. I bet it's green there...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Alpha "crunch" discussion

I glanced through the updated Alpha last night and it looks like the biggest update is the revision of some of the Combat Feats. It looks as though they removed the "chaining" of feats... which was probably a good idea.

D&D 4E What was Paizo thinking? 3.75 the 4E clone?

I'm still confident that Paizo knows their business better than you, or any of the various busieness professional on this board, since they have grown their business in the past five years and have the market research, which I assume you do not, to back up their decisions. If you happen to have...

Well, I am certainly glad that Lisa, Erik and Co. have a better sense for their business than you do.

D&D 4E What was Paizo thinking? 3.75 the 4E clone?

In reference to this part of your post: I saw this on Paizo earlier today: I suspect they are beoing more liberal with what they throw in the Alpha and will scale back the things that may be too much by the time the Beta comes out in August.

D&D 4E What was Paizo thinking? 3.75 the 4E clone?

Really...? Have you playtested this? Any evidence to this besides your eyeballing it?

D&D 4E What was Paizo thinking? 3.75 the 4E clone?

... in the 48 hours after the announcment was made. I'd say that's pretty good, and so does Paizo. Please remember that Paizo does not need everyone, nearly everyone, or even mostly everyone who plays D&D to purchase their products for them to be successful.

D&D 4E What was Paizo thinking? 3.75 the 4E clone?

What it does mean is that there was/is widespread interest in this - which is good for Paizo's business.

D&D 4E What was Paizo thinking? 3.75 the 4E clone?

Right... with over 5,000 downloads of the Alpha in the first 48 hours after the announcement, it sure seems like it'll be a sinker alright. :\

D&D 4E What was Paizo thinking? 3.75 the 4E clone?

How can anyone (other than WotC) not miss the "4E rush" with no GSL? Paizo is the publisher for Necromancer, so they will have 4E products out. They have also not ruled out producing their own 4E products down the line (depending on the GSL), but it will not be in Pathfinder.
