    But...why not GURPS Munchkin?

Yes, but the Munchkin concept, as well as the illustrations for the card game were generally Kovalic's. The card game and now the d20 supplement are inspired by Dork Tower and the Unspeakable Oaf. Kovalic's not a game designer, so Jackson and Hackard are writing the actual rulebook. Hackard...

    But...why not GURPS Munchkin?

Again, Colonel, Munchkin is John Kovalic's baby. You know, the guy who writes Dork Tower. If you don't trust his motives, then why does his work get published monthly in Dragon?

First impressions of D20 Call of Cthulu

Ayep, and Cthulhu can cause 10hp of damage just by looking at something crosseyed.

    When was Tharizdun demoted?

Then worship is, under this system, an agreement that the god can use that individual's portion of the divine spark in proxy. Individually these divine sparks might be insignificant, but even if every person is only about 1/1000 of a god, you add up the belief of a thousand people, you get a god.

    But...why not GURPS Munchkin?

"D20 GURPS" is a contradiction in terms. GURPS is the rules set, not the setting. To convert GURPS to d20 would defeat the purpose of GURPS. Oh, please, spare me the borgish "prepare to be assimilated" rhetoric. There is nothing that says a game has to be d20 to survive, nor that anyone should...

    But...why not GURPS Munchkin?

"Munchkin" the card game is pretty much parodying D&D. This could have been Kovalic's idea rather than Jackson's.

GURPS - a matter of style and setting.

I would recommend, in order from best to whatever, the following:GURPS Cabal (Supernatural occult conspiracy)GURPS WWII (Military realism. The best book for portraying the war)GURPS Voodoo (A shadow war fought by rival sects of magi for the salvation of mankind)GURPS Black Ops (Think Men in...

What do you want to see in D20 Dragonlance?

I'll agree that the knightly orders (and the sub-grades within both Solamnics and the Knights of Takhisis) mandate prestige classes. Frankly, this is one of the clunky systems that just didn't work well in past editions, but seems just made for some of the systems in 3E. I'd almost say that...

What do you want to see in D20 Dragonlance?

The Star Wars d20 corebook's approach to the various eras, with the era notes as to what characters are appropriate when is a very elegant treatment. Dragonlance would do well to adopt it. Also, I really like the icon system on the back of Star Wars supplements. This would be a great thing to...

Raistlin and the War of Souls

Question for anyone who's reading the War of Souls: Is High Sorcery coming back, or does the new magic seem to be staying?

Uhm, Sovereign Stone isn't going anywhere. Was that dig at Sovereign stone really necessary, Corinth?

d20 Publishing and the Public Domain

Ah, but with Dis, it wouldn't even have to be "close enough"! The city, and even its ruler have detailed portrayals in the public domain. A d20 citybook on it already has a lot of material it can draw from that is fair game.

Raistlin and the War of Souls

Soth is alive (well, dead, but ambulatory) and in Krynn. He was ripped screaming out of Ravenloft by the spirits of the elven women he murdered. Hickman and Weiss wanted him back in their setting.

d20 Publishing and the Public Domain

Recently, on this board, I read a long and drawn out discussion of how WotC should make a book about Dis in the Nine Hells. Here's the thing, though, the Nine Hells, so long as you don't call them Baator, is fair game for d20 publishing. Dis, specificially, is public domain because it's from...

Does any one else miss Planescape?

Dis and Dispater are in the public domain, being part of the popular mythological portrayal of Hell. Anyone could write a d20 sourcebook on Dis, and WotC couldn't raise a legal concern.

    Bit more on Dragonlance....

Probably a coup for Sovereign Press, too, because WotC will be eating the printing costs, and will likely make a full-colour book.

Could WotC Put the Genie Back in the Bottle?

I meant with the state of their OGL/d20 usage in the corebooks and supplements. I had gotten the announcement via the mailing lists already. I'm just somewhat in the dark as to what will be OGL and what will be d20 in EQRPG.
