    Help me grock the warlock

The Tiefling Warlock in my party is actually pretty good. She's Star Pact for Imp. Fate of the Void and has a Rod of Corruption, leading to massive plusses to hit on her next turn when the wizard kills a ton of minions. Hellfire Blood gives +1 to hit and damage with all Fear and Fire powers...

    Fun While Prone

I believe the main difference between push and slide is that in a push, you force the target to move, but each square you move it has to be further away from the origin of the pushing power. Pull is the opposite. Slide means you can move them however you please.

    Fun While Prone

"Good job, Fighter, you really fired up those minions! They want your head now! Big guy does too, but he just can't squeeze in. Darn."

    Fun While Prone

Most monsters who get knocked prone will happily soak an attack from the fighter to get a free action stand up. A free move action is greater than the damage when it comes down to economy of actions.

    Warlock, which pact is best?

I love Star Pact. Most of the powers are fear related, so as a Tiefling you can take Hellfire Blood and get +1 to hit/damage. In addition, the +1 to hit per cursed mob killed is incredibly good.

Great weapon fighter is a "trap"? Forked Thread: I don't optimize.

QFT. I enjoy playing a min/max style of character and juicing out every advantage I can. Maybe that makes me a munchkin, but it's what I like. Every character is optimized in some way, otherwise we could just roll a dice to decide class, race, powers, and feats. Some people take it to...

    Fighter Exploits

    1) Yes, you add everything you would normally add except strength. 2) This refers to stuns or other conditions as you suspect. As for your second question, I'd say that yes, you would deal your con damage one for the push and again for the prone. The next part of it is tricky, and I'll leave...

    Expanding Feats for multi-classing

I'd allow this, as the rogue would lose the +1 to hit from using daggers, one of the biggest benefits of using that smaller damage die. This is a tricky one, but I think it could fly in the paragon/epic tier. Not really a big issue as long as it's once per encounter. I would let the feat...

    Wizards and Multiclassing

Something's been bothering me for a while and I thought I'd ask since I hadn't seen it addressed. When a wizard multiclasses into something else, do they continue to memorize their spells for the day as before when they take Power Swap feats? Can they give up the extra spells they get from...

D&D 4E 4e Battle Tactic: Murder by Pinball

I was under the impression that creatures take damage from these abilities when entering the space of an effect, not a square that the effect occupies. Much like how a large creature has 1 space made up of 4 squares. I don't believe this was simply a house rule, can anyone clarify?

Help reign in a player who refuses to play his role

I don't believe anyone is claiming that the heart of the matter is that he's throwing daggers, but the attitude that he's projecting. There are people trying to enjoy a game and he's ruining it to prove a point. No one cares about that he's ineffective in combat as much as the reason that he...

    KOTS Question

It means if that target uses an attack that doesn't include the kobold that marked the target, then they get -2 to hit.

    Interesting implement question

What if a warlock takes the Rogue paragon Daggermaster? Can they crit their spells using a pact blade on an 18-20?

Secondary ability benefits - why the wizard inconsistency?

    Yeah but artificer's are leaders.

Secondary ability benefits - why the wizard inconsistency?

Could extreme focus on one primary stat be the hallmark of a controller role? It seems that wizards were given a diverse array of powers and only one stat to define their effects.

    Does Mage Hand block movement?

I agree with you, but Mage Hand has the same text of "conjure it into an unoccupied square," and the errata has said this doesn't qualify. My second point about the adjacent target was mostly meant to poke a little fun at the rules, I'm sure no DM in their right mind would rule that it doesn't...

    Does Mage Hand block movement?

Thanks for the quick reply, I wasn't aware of that errata. It brings up another question about Flaming Sphere though. Flaming Sphere has the same wording as Mage Hand (Conjure a Medium Flaming Sphere in an unoccupied square within range), but I had assumed that it blocked entry into that...

    Does Mage Hand block movement?

I realize that this spell is a cantrip and probably shouldn't affect movement, but the rules for conjurations say that allies can move through the square a conjuration occupies but enemies cannot. Is there something I'm missing here?

    TWF and Weapon Focus

Smurf, I don't think anyone was implying that you could get an extra damage from the offhand weapon, just that if you have TWF and weapon focus in your main hand weapon you would get +2 damage total. I think the main question was if TWF and Weapon Focus stacked, which I think we agree upon.
