This is what we do. We were sick of the math associated with level loss. Erasing character sheets is a pain. ;)

After 3rd Edition came out, we had a rash of people attempt to play a single-classed Ranger... ...no one has played one since.

I'm currently playing a single-classed Lizardman Barbarian. Yes, it would have been more powerful to play a Fighter/Barbarian, but I really don't care. I'm going to stay single-classed until the end of time. :)

[/B] Still disagree. The Fighter and Barbarian have lame Saving Throws, don't have any access to healing wands, cannot cast any spells, and cannot turn undead (which is only good at low levels anyway). Like I said, a Paladin is overshadowed by a multiclassed Fighter/Barbarian/Ranger/Rogue...

We house-ruled that you can make Diplomacy, Bluff, and Intimidate checks against PCs. More people took a care to have good mental stats after that. Sense Motive became an important skill. ;)

Honestly, if you want a "True Necromancer" without divine spells, just have a single-classed Wizard (Necromancer). You don't need a PrC to round out the NPC. Besides, the True Necromancer in the T&B is completely worthless. A single classed cleric or wizard is better. Both get their respective...

Plus, it's a cloak, with maybe 4 hps and hardness 0, and on the first saving throw vs a damaging spell where you roll a one, you have a really good chance of losing 50,000 gps. Not that I would EVER be that cruel to a PC, oh no... ;)

And inherent bonuses from books and stuff. And magic items. Dieties have a lot of gold, you know... ;)

The Paladin is my favorite class. The only thing I can say is: Horses and dungeons do not mix. If the DM lets you have a different mount, like a dire lion, griffon or dragon, then this is the class for you. If not, then let me suggest a Fighter/Cleric... Also, small paladins are insanely...
