    D&D 4E Is "Natural 20" an auto-hit in 4e?

No, it doesn't come up often. That said, doing it this way isn't hard to remember, adds a bit more versimilitude, and makes the game slightly less 'swingy;' a stated design goal of 4e.

    D&D 4E Is "Natural 20" an auto-hit in 4e?

I really hope that this is the case...

D&D 4E Love It or Leave It: 4E Multiclassing

I'm generally positive, but what will really decide this for me is the number of feats characters get. If its still one every three levels, and the early Multiclassing route forces you to trade a feat for the ability to take a power from a different class list *instead* of one from your list...

    GSL news.

Great news...! And while it might be somewhat unfortunate that we won't have third party products on day one, the flip side to this is that everyone will have at least three months with the system (longer, for those with playtesters or that received rules materials early) to get to know its ins...

    DMG Excerpt: Customizing Monsters

I believe that EITHER Int or Dex add to AC (whichever's higher), as AC is now a function of [Reflex Defense + Armor's rating].

    Minions above 1st level

The reason, I believe, that Vampire Spawn have 10hp instead of being killed in one hit is that, as 10th level creatures, they are still a threat to local bakers and farmers, who won't be able to one shot them with rolling pins and pitchforks. 1 HP per level seems about right for this...

Great write-up..! You have me and my group salivating...

    Stat Penalties/Damage?

Word. Another 3.x noble experiment that we are the better for its attempt, but that I am happy to see go away (ideally far, far away).

Anyone have Faiths & Pantheons handy?

Getting desperate..! If you don't want to post the rules info publicly, feel free to email me @ cyanotic@gmail.com. I *promise* I actually own this. Thanks again!

    Will these work together?

Have you thought about trying Iron Heroes or Castles and Crusades? While I don't have experience with either, many people here gush about their ability to run D&D-like gritty games...

Human Bane vs. Half-elves and Half-Orcs

I assume that's the rules intentions, and that human bane weapons do not work against them. This makes sense in a certain respect, because otherwise 'half' races would be subject to two different kinds of race-based bane weapons, and hurt by them twice as often. Someone I suppose could house...

    Spells that avoid spell resistance...

Basically all of the summoning and conjurations spells ignore SR, as the caster is summoning and hurling 'real' acid/fire/cold, etc. It does seem kind of wonky, especially because the orb spells are already very effective. Glitterdust works the same way, which seems strange, because if it...

Anyone have Faiths & Pantheons handy?

I left my copy at a friend's house, and need to level my character for tonight's game. Last session, I qualified for the Auspician PrC, including successfully ingesting the Tyche's Blood (sp?) poison. I remember the class's HD and spellcasting, but can someone really quickly just let me know...

Will DMs Need to Plan the PC Strategy?

One thing that will help out with adventure design, especially at low to mid levels, is that encounter and obstacle breaking spells and effects are being shifted to much higher levels... So to some extent, it will still be a 'problem,' but only later when the PCs *should* be breaking through...

    4th Edition: portable?

Good point. Here's hoping that there's a softcover or even pocket-book sized phb (if not all 3 core books) soonish. I bought the Mongoose pocket 3.5 phb, which I liked well enough, except that the Wizards IP-named spells were difficult to find, and the binding was so bad that it started...

How will the designers (or the players) deal with magic item influx due to PC death?

We have two usual DMs. One always insists on all gear staying with the dead PC (or their heirs), and one always leaves it up to the group. I always dislike how rigid the former rule is, and how callous and greedy the party always is in the latter. :)

D&D 4E Wandering Star: Jonathon Tweet's 4E Campaing (He Wants Your Help)

I hate average damage, but <3 Killshot and Story Points. In any case, must hand it to JoT for his experimentation, some really interesting ideas here. His campaign sounds like a lot of fun.

    Pramas: D&D his way??

Its about time a serious designer references some good music. No more of this Death Cab or Timbalada stuff. :)

    Beardless combat rules...

This would be funnier if 'bearding' didn't mean 'passing' in Closeted circles. As it is.... ;)

    Concerned About Character Creation

There is absolutely nothing to confirm this, but I would guess that paragon paths and epic destinies do not have bizarre, arbitrary requirements in order to qualify for them, like 3.x prestige classes do. If so, much less character planning would be required than in 3.x, where many people feel...
