new playtest report by Steve Winter

Yeah, I knew that (I heart Paladins) but I wasn't sure whether it had been confirmed that they could still do that in 4e, though there'd be no reason I could see why they couldn't...

If not magic items, then what?

In the Fighter section of R&C there's a lot of reference to special armours crafted by each race, so perhaps that takes the place of magic armour for some classes/the early levels? Wizards can also craft their own implements apparently... Interestingly, there was no mention of magic armour...

D&D 4E What Campaign Settings would you like to see for 4e?

I second the call for Mystara! And my beloved Al-Quadim... And Kara-Tur... at least a specific FR supplement on these two would be awesome and make me skip and sing merrily along... :) :) :)

new playtest report by Steve Winter

Not too much crunch in this tongue-in-cheek account, but I was intrigued by mention of Warlords reviving people and Paladins laying hands on themselves... http://www.gleemax.com/Comms/Pages/Communities/BlogPost.aspx?blogpostid=28592&pagemode=2&blogid=2136 'The Life and Times of Bigelow...

PCs and Monsters being different - Classes?

seems quite explicit here (I remember the post because I was excited by mention of Aasimars :) ): http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=906393 Andy Collins' blog: 'And now I'll just mention that I'm working on an appendix for the Monster Manual that provides the basics on how to play some...

What Do We Know About Clerics?

having another look at R&C... The designers wanted more persistent spells like spiritual weapon, more magical attacks like flame strike and more buffs, and so designed more powers based on these themes... there is also mention of supernatural weather control inspired by storm of vengeance and...

What do we know about Rogues?/Rogue love thread

I heard that those more intelligent folks will just be a bit better at skills... whereas back in the day, they mainly just got more... Those thieving halflings are the best, but them elves aren't bad either... and I hear those newcomers, the tieflings, have a silver tongue if you're interested...

PCs and Monsters being different - Classes?

I think one of the npc types is arcanist: Peter Schaefer makes reference to a gnome arcanist here: http://www.gleemax.com/Comms/Pages/Communities/BlogPost.aspx?blogpostid=18294&pagemode=2&blogid=2126 he also mentions some warlock-knights in another post - could that be a npc class, or mixture...

    D&D 4E 4e Drow predictions?

Drow were mentioned in a blog post about the MM in relation to an appendix which concerned monsters which were avaliable as player races, alongside Aasimar, Gnomes etc., so it seems likely they'll be 'built' in a similar way to pcs, or that at least that option will be avaliable... EDIT: what...

What Do We Know About Clerics?

having now picked up races and classes, I would add that some deities apparently grant defense bonuses rather than (or in addition to?) weapon proficiences. There is mention of healing prayers, which take the place of standard-action healing spells, though rituals are necessary for more complex...

Rich Baker has more on the second adventure here: http://www.gleemax.com/Comms/Pages/Communities/BlogPost.aspx?blogpostid=28230&pagemode=2&blogid=4142 Quote: OK, D&D first… I’ve just finished up my part of adventure H2: Thunderspire Labyrinth. I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out. I...
