When and what game did you start with.

    1984 (I think), RuneQuest.

    Pre-Order Doctor Who 2E Now!

Their mechanical effects can be pretty varied. In some cases it could be as simple of giving you Advantage on rolls related to the Distinction, or they could be unique powers or abilities - like Special Traits from the previous version of the game. (in the case of powerful abilities, expect to...

    Has any one played Icons?

I enjoy it quite a bit for one-shots, not so much for extended campaigns. I HIGHLY recommend random character creation (something I hardly ever say for a superhero game).

    Pre-Order Doctor Who 2E Now!

Talkers, movers, does, then fighters (yes, that’s still the initiative system) Traits are gone, replaced by Distinctions. Instead of numeric difficulty modifiers to dice rolls, the system now uses Advantage and Disadvantag. There‘s more, but that’s what jumped out in my initial pass.

    Stars/Worlds Without Number (General Thread)

That's keen. My copy arrived today and I'm all excited to run something with it (a big solid book creates more excitement than big ephemeral PDFs) - but I need to bring one of my current games to a graceful conclusion first, then convince one of my groups to give it a try. Your doc will help...

Talisman RPG: What Makes It Unique?

I have a strange blindspot in my head, and I always forget about Noble Knight (until after I've already ordered)

Talisman RPG: What Makes It Unique?

Sounds cool. My copy arrived today and I promptly put it back into the Amazon box and requested a replacement copy. (Shipped in a very large box with no packing material or protection at all - every corner is smashed and the cover is scratched.)

Talisman RPG: What Makes It Unique?

5th edition D&D? No, it’s a unique game unto itself.

Suggestions for enhancing Isle of Dread?

This is completely insane. I may just have to steal this.

I want smaller, leaner core books.

Hmmm... after reading through this thread I feel I must be the oddball. I don’t care how big the core book is - but I want the core of the rules to be fairly small and concise. The TinyD6 games are a good example of this. Tiny Dungeons is over 200 pages, but the “rules” are only around 80 pages...

Which Online Virtual Tabletop Do You Use?

I'd never seen owlbear.rodeo before. That's kind of cool (although the lack of hex maps is an issue for me).

Which Online Virtual Tabletop Do You Use?

Need an option to give multiple responses. For games that benefit from a map and minis, I use Roll20 (its easy and does the job). For games that don't necessary benefit from maps and minis, I just use Zoom or Google Hangouts occasionally sharing my screen when I have things I need to the...

How Many GMs Run Multiple Games?

It can vary pretty wildly. I'm running one regular game right now. Two months ago I had three going at once.

What programs do you use when playing on-line?

If I run Discord in a web browser (instead of the client app), I actually use a different browser than what Roll20 is running in. This way, if something goes pear-shaped in one I can close and reopen the browser and not lose both sessions.
