    Marking via Dragon's breath

My eladrin fighter/wizard uses Thunderwave every time we fight - usually to kill minions - and marks anyone in the area who didn't die. Our group hasn't seen this as an issue. If anything, it places my character in more danger than she might be able to handle! I don't see the problem.

    Grading Encounter Attack Powers

D'oh! I was sure it was a feat bonus - my bad. Are there any items that add the thunder keyword to all of your attacks, though? I think there's one for cold, fire, and lightning, but not for thunder.

    Grading Encounter Attack Powers

Well actually feats like Lightning Reflexes etc already provide the +2 feat bonus to the defense in question, and Solid Sound doesn't stack with those... I find it about balanced that you either get +2 to defense X all the time, or +2 to defense X, Y, OR Z, and only for a round after you hit...

two weapon fighting without off hand?

Ah, so he can freely use just his leftie if he wants to? So the off-hand property is only relevant if you want to get some benefits from wielding two weapons at once?

two weapon fighting without off hand?

Good catch! So interestingly, my fighter knows well how to fight with a dagger or a shortsword in his left hand, but can't throw a punch with his leftie... :hmm:

two weapon fighting without off hand?

It's also the best way to build a monk in 4e... ;) But mainly this question arose because I was planning to make a spear-wielding fighter who maxes Str and Dex and multiclasses into Ranger, taking the Stormwarden paragon path (our DM houseruled it was ok - kids, don't do this at home!). I...

two weapon fighting without off hand?

I think it's pretty clear that the RAI mean that you can only effectively use an Off-hand weapon in your off-hand, and if you don't have any special feats or class features, it just means you can attack with either one. But I have a question: if a ranger loses his off-hand bastard sword, can...

    Power attack rules question

Yeah, I'd like to add that 95% of all damage bonuses specify "damage roll" or only apply when the attack actually hit - some (Pit Fighter features, for instance) seem to apply to all damage, but these are pretty rare.

    Experience Points & Leveling...How Fast

We've played 3 or 4 times, each session lasting about 4 hours, and we've leveled twice. So our group has taken 6-8 hours of gameplay per level. I think the DM is advancing us a bit faster than we should, though, but we don't mind. :p

    Grading At-Will Powers

I haven't ran any simulations or extensive playtests but I find this hard to believe. We've played 4e something like three sessions, so my experience is limited, but so far about 80% of the enemies we've encountered have been minions, against whom the damage is irrelevant. The more bad-ass...

Are ELADRIN attribute bonuses the MOST USELESS?

I guess we end up comparing apples to oranges - the humans have more oranges than the Eladrin have apples, but man are those apples shiny... :p

Are ELADRIN attribute bonuses the MOST USELESS?

I always figured the human extra feat was there as a balance for Fey Step - if they use it as a balance for the extra free weapon proficiency, the Eladrin still has Fey Step the human doesn't.

    Basic attack question

Also, remember to add 1/2 your level to the attack rolls (and defenses, and skill bonuses)! The enemies' defenses will also be higher...

Are ELADRIN attribute bonuses the MOST USELESS?

Eladrin Soldier only evens things out in the Heroic tier, though; after that Weapon Focus is just as good, leaving your lower Str showing when compared to the more optimized fighter races. Not sure what it's worth, but Eladrin do get free weapon proficiencies, which is a plus - a small plus...

Are ELADRIN attribute bonuses the MOST USELESS?

This is true - I forgot all about the extra skill! This is actually really cool and always useful. A fighter can take Perception or Insight, any non-caster class can take Arcana (with a +2 racial bonus), any non-sneaky class can take Stealth or Thievery... In a small group an Eladrin can perform...

    Do enemies know they're marked?

Our DM decided that the enemies know exactly what is going on, but he plays them appropriately - zombies don't really strategize, for instance. In return, he also keeps us aware of enemy specials, at least most of the time. I think the RAW would be that the enemy knows he's marked but not the...

Are ELADRIN attribute bonuses the MOST USELESS?

Of course it depends on your class choice, but I'd say Eladrin do have the worst stat bonuses. There are many situations where the other bonus isn't completely useless - a warlord who specializes in a spear, a wand-specialist wizard, any dex-based character who also has to be the ritual caster...

    Longspear strategy (or lack thereof)

Is there a way to get push to your at-will attack with a longspear? That would be very valuable... This much is true, but there are so many sweet exploits for spear-use in the fighter lists... *drool* You could take Weapon Focus, though, which is just as good once you hit paragon, and...
