    EPG Excerpt: Rituals

It'd be like the Eberron version of the Decanter of Endless Water!

    EPG Excerpt: Rituals

Better use for the coffer: Place a platinum piece in, shake it a few times, then yell "Yahtzee!" and spray copper pieces everywhere.

    Balor Down!

How did it not feel like a grind if you guys were only able to hit occasionally?

    OotS #656 Is Up

Aye. Surely we haven't forgotten that critical law of fiction. "If you don't see the body, he isn't dead. And even then, only half the time."

Arcane Power Art Gallery: Welcome back, old friends

Madly in love with 10, 22, and 26. And I have to agree with a couple people before me that the recycling itself isn't a huge annoyance, but I wasn't fond of most of the reused ones when I saw them years ago.

    PDFS--Of the WotC Court Case

Except WotC didn't actually lose anything. Whether 12 people or 1200 people download a PDF makes no direct impact on their bottom line. Such is the nature of the digital media. When dealing with digital piracy, ultimately we're talking in terms of opportunity cost. So we have the following...

PHB2 Races = Mos Eisley Cantina

Spell mechanics certainly do not match prior editions, and I have little doubt that sizeable chunks of spells have come and gone. Classes don't function at all the same way (see: multiclassing, prestige classes, skills... did early editions even grant progressive class features beyond granting...

    WoTC Interview with Rob Heinsoo

I have to agree that most of this has been discussed to death at this point. It's a good resource to steer people towards if they're already gamers don't frequent boards like these and haven't given 4E much thought, but there's not much here for we of the endless banter. I do still wish that...

    4e Development Trends

Eh, I don't know that a solution for anything -- you'd just end up with Fighters who have ridiculously awesome Strength (as now) and Fighters who have absolutely miserable Strength -- the middle ground is still no-man's land. It's kind of the same situation that 3E Fighters had with...

    D&D 4E 4E6: an E6 for fourth edition!

I agree that E10 makes more sense than E6 in this case. Including 11th level is tempting though, just because the two Paragon Path features coming at the same time there add a nice bit of uniqueness that the power system doesn't necessarily give you.

Recurring Villains - Up a level, down a rank

I'm bouncing around a couple ideas in my head for a campaign idea, and one of the things I want to make happen is to introduce the PCs to a handful of the world's movers and shakers (who would in this case be mid- to high-heroic tier) early on and to continue to pull these NPCs into and out of...

A Couple Things I Need To Get Off My Chest

Water is a good conductor of heat though (26 times faster than air, I think?), which has the effect of it cooling you considerably when you get into it. So it's not totally out there.

Mearls talks about how he hates resistances

    Edit: Irrelevant.

How many books did you buy after the three core books?

Bought Martial Power, haven't picked up the core books yet. Waiting for an errata'd print run. I'm not terribly concerned about the PHB or DMG, but having to make a bunch of fiddly changes to have an up-to-date Monster Manual is not something I want to deal with.

    Wordclouds from the 4e and 3e PH's

There's something I like about "GAIN VS END" appearing on the bottom right of the 4e one. I'm kind of disappointed -- but not surprised (which is maybe even more disappointing) -- at how sterile these are. No sign of "adventure", "quest", "villain", "story", etc. Dreams for 5e, I suppose. :D

Kill, Make Whoopie With, or Marry? 2e. 3.x, and 4e

That isn't a sure thing at all! You've forgotten the cardinal rule of fantasy death -- if you don't see a body, he's not dead. No, you have to kill them all first, then nuke them from orbit to destroy the corpses.

Playing THIS with THAT. . .

Not really the same thing, but I was recently part of a d20 Apocalypse group that, in order to unlock Bill Gates' cryogenic freezing chamber, had to win a video game that just happened to be 4e's battle with Irontooth from Keep on the Shadowfell.

What did you never like in 3e?

Skill ranks/class skills in conjunction with multiclassing. Ye gods, nothing is quite as annoying as figuring out exactly the sequence of say, Bard and Crusader levels so that your relevant skills are up to par and I can qualify for X bizarre feat. Power Attack being the One True Feat To Rule...

2nd Printing of Core 4E books yet?

There have been multiple print runs of the core books. None have included errata. However, the official PDFs were recently updated to include errata, which suggests that a errata'd print run may not be too far off.

New Power Attack: Self imposed Conditions

I think this goes a long ways towards making Power Attack the end-all be-all melee feat, if that's what you're going for. That effect will fade out at higher levels since you won't have quite so much burst potential, but for the Heroic tier this looks fantastically good.
