The spell description of Polymorph says nothing that would prohibit that in my eyes: It only says that you cannot change into incorporeal and gaseous forms, but it specifically states you get the subtype if any, and it does not forbid any further subtypes. So where did you get that?

A wildshaped druid always keeps his number of hit dice, regardless of what he changes into. If a 6th level druid wildshapes into a dire rat he keeps his 6 hit dice and is not reduced to one hit die. Of course his hitpoints are adjusted for any change in constitution. I would think that the...
