actually i'm pretty sure the warforged doesnt hav a sense of smell. In Race of Eberron, there is a specific item that allows warforges to track enemies by there scent. It goes on to say that it is often coveted by warforges because they don't normally have a sense of smell.

in hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, douglas adams goes through the many uses of the towel. that got me thinkin, is their any unexpectidly useful items in dnd that are like that (particularly inexpensive ones)? For me, it would have to be a 30 ft coil of soft rope, it always seems to come in handy.
