As a DM, what is your default answer to player requests?

My default is usually "maybe" with a strong side of "yes." There is very little that I can see not allowing, but I won't rule out "no".

    Sci-fi RPGs

Eclipse Phase. It's an awesome looking game and the only reason I haven't gotten to play it is I'm the only Sci-Fi GM in the area.

    Any Spelljammers out there?

I'm currently running my third SpellJammer campaign since I discovered the setting in 2004. (I came into RPGs with 3.5) It's my favorite campaign setting and love all the weirdness and wonkyness.

Cartoons for Geeks Both Young and Old

I will have to recommend Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. It is a fantastic show.

Playing a Game When You Don't Know the Rules

If any of the regular GMs for my group suggested this I would have to bow out for the duration. I enjoy the game part of an RPG too much to give it up. There is a single GM in the area that I would trust to run this way if it was a one shot, but I wouldn't play past a single session.

    UnderDiscussion: The UndergopherPodcast

On this week’s exciting episode of UnderDiscussion WDR and I are joined by Hooligan, Slacker, Nockergeek, Hida Man, and new guest Jolly Rodgers for a discussion of the d20 system. What d20 is (and what it isn’t), Pathfinder (long time listeners will of course be shocked at that), D&D through...

Is your Gaming situation Stable or Unstable?

I'm going to call my group stable. I'm lucky enough to live in a player rich environment so while the people playing in any given game might not be the same from one game to the next (multiple DMs running multiple games, usually alternating weeks) we're all a part of an extended gaming group and...

What's more important for a Magus, STR or INT?

Personally I see the Magus as more of a spellcasting fighter than a fighting wizard, so in my opinion I would go with a higher strength and avoid using spells that require a save.

    Contest from UnderDiscussion

As announced in UnderDiscussion 44 the Undergophers are giving away a Game Science d20 for the first annual Young Wallace Memorial Award for Excellence in Jerk Game Mastery (Thanks to a listener suggestion, these will be referred to in short as the Wallies). We're looking for people to send in...

What level is your average local NPC?

I don't usually bother to stat most people, but my general rule is is only children and kobolds have 1 hit die. A good 50% of adults have 2 levels, generally commoner or expert. People who've led more interesting lives get more levels, but in a dirt-farming peasant village the best you'll...

So who's going to Gen Con?

My friends and I are driving up on Wednesday and coming back Sunday. I'm not running anything, but I am playing in a few games and have even managed to line up a few interviews for the podcast.

Players that just don't *get* the genre

I remember reading about that over at the atomic think tank. I still love the very silver age idea of a "freak textile mill accident."

Players that just don't *get* the genre

In my view this is actually a communication issue between the player and the GM. I learned this the hard way after a time travel game collapsed because one player essentially refused to get out of the time machine and interact with the settings the machine landed in. My co-gm and I were getting...

    Your experiences with Spelljammer?

Spelljammer is one of my favorite settings. I've always been a cheeseball, so some of the sillier elements of the setting that have soured others were to me the highlights. Coming up with spheres and planets and juggling the twelve or so plothooks while trying to anticipate the players decisions...

    The Vasquez Rocks

I always love to see a movie or TV show use "Kirk's Rock" for a backdrop.

London is Doomed: Mass Effect 3, Holiday '11

The change from one of your powers needs to cool down if you use it to ALL of your powers need to cool down if you use one was irritating.
