    D&D 5E Player Hit Points

Half plus roll the other half (e.g., d4+4 instead of d8) is my personal favourite.

    D&D 5E Brainstorm Sorcerer upgrades. (+)

More emphasis on bloodlines, right from 1st level onwards. Points. See #1. No. No. Cha. Yes, and definitely should be. Considerably more so. No, not “need”. But ideally, that would be the case.

D&D General If you were made president of D&D, what would you do?

What would I do? Make 6e, 7e, or whatever we’d be up to at this stage, the overall most amazing edition of D&D. Open everything up, license-wise. Release PDFs of every book from every edition, including the current one. But then, I’m not beholden to that whole corporate life thing, nor would I...

    Trailer Fallout - Official Trailer

Well, that was a heck of a lot darker than the Fallout games I’ve played (which is most of them). Liked it all the more for that.

D&D 5E With Only 4 Ability Scores, How Would You Handle Spellcasting Abilities (+)

Might Agility Will Awareness Split the spellcasters between will and awareness types. And this would depend on just how many caster types you’re going to include.

D&D 5E Really different magic & psionics systems for 5e?

Most of what I’ve seen has been people reusing the existing unified magic system, and even all or most of the standard spells, regardless of what they’re trying to represent. Is there anything really different out there, for 5e in particular? Thanks

D&D General Which type of True Neutral are you?

My take on TN is simply not doing a heck of alot of G, E, L or C things. Not enough to tip the scales. Then again, of course, you might get the odd zealous TN type that’s all about perfect balance and absolute neutrality. But I’d have it as either they don’t exist, or they’re very rare.

D&D 5E So what's the scoop on D&D in PDF Format?

You’re probably right, in terms of profit margins or suchlike. It’s just that, from a totally selfish PoV, I’m one lf those DMs that refuses to subscribe to online TTRPG services of any kind, and will stick with standalone, offline documents* for the duration. * And physical books, actually.

D&D 5E So what's the scoop on D&D in PDF Format?

Not that anyone will care, I imagine, particularly not those at WotC, but FWIW I would’ve bought at least the 5e core books (very likely others too) as PDFs, that being my preferred format most of the time. As well as the hardcovers, incidentally - I like to have both. But again, one point of...

D&D (2024) Do you plan to adopt D&D5.5One2024Redux?

It seems unlikely, for a number of reasons. But I will probably view whatever comes up with my usual curiosity, and who knows, there might be some neat mechanics worth bolting onto a game we will be playing.

Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

Wow. I completely disagree with almoet everything the guy wrote there. We are in a golden age of TTRPGs, and frankly, the less monolithic the hobby, the better for GMs and players around the world.

D&D 5E What are the highlights of D&D 5th edition for you?

Advantage/disadvantage, backgrounds, one save per ability, somewhat less gonzo high level casters (than 3e, which was my previous played version of D&D).

    D&D 5E 5e Updates: Monstrous Compendium

Hi, going through the lords of the nine right now. It seems there's an error here, with Mephestopheles' weapon of choice: EQUIPMENT Scratch Weapon (trtident), artifact (requires attunement) Biter is a Large magic greatsword that grants a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. It...

Why the Encounter Powers hate? (Maneuvers = Encounter)

This is probably helpful to the discussion (which I haven't read: tl;dr) in no way whatsoever, but I happen to rather like encounter-limited abilities. What I would prefer is scene-limited abilities, however. A seemingly subtle difference, perhaps. But no, it's quite distinct: all encounters...

Why are people not interested in RPG?

Our experiences differ. :) If you look at the mainstream popularity of some other kinds of games (e.g., casual web/phone games, console games, etc.) it strikes me that my own experiences, or observations rather, might be a little closer to the overall norm. Perhaps there are levels and levels...

"Tier-restricted" campaigns as an official option?

Okay. I was meaning more in line with E6's approach - ways for characters to progress (little ways), beyond a given cutoff point (e.g., level 10). Because, surely, the very abilities of high level characters themselves, will allow/encourage certain styles of play. Rather hard to avoid planar...

Why are people not interested in RPG?

Mileage is what it is. :) I'm glad you've not found that to be the case. All (other) GMs I have talked to have, as have I. Honestly, I think most people are "too straight" by far for such "childish", frivolous activities (without some way to make it mundane, cynical, sexual, or otherwise...
