What historical conflicts have you used in your game?

Good old Crusades. I was playing a Riddle of Steel game where a knight and his men (the other PC's) were dealing with a small fictional frontier barony in the Crusader States. The knight and his men were devout Christians to begin with, but changed their zealous stance when they found the...

    WoD stuff.

In a few weeks I'm thinking of running a Changeling: the Lost game. I'm just wondering what you guys think of the next questions. 1. Probabilities. It seems quite difficult to succeed, especially to have dramatic successes. Anyone actually know the probabilities involved? 2. Anything about WoD...

Anyone knows a good wizard's-duel system?

You don't like Certamen, huh.. I don't blame you, I didn't really like them that much myself when I started. But as for a combination of wits and magical might, it isn't too bad. The choice/denial system brings your strategic senses into it and the magic power is measured by that. A small...

    Witch Girls Adventures

Sorry for the slightly off topic comment, but - A TV series with an exorcist (possibly part of a conspiracy) going around dispelling demons and breaking up strange evil cults sounds.. COOL! I could imagine a cross between say the old british show Ultraviolet and something like Millenium or...

Is D&D About Having Power Without Responsibility?

I've come to the odd conclusion that the game 'setting' interferes with this. In early games (3e) my players found a series of interconnected, defensible tunnels. After clearing them out, they turned it into their main base and put an inn on top of it. Later, after clearing a castle of its...

    Witch Girls Adventures

Actually I have a 10 year old niece that I plan to introduce into the hobby. I've briefly had a look; this game seems like it might interest her. I'm thinking I might run it and my wife play. Unfortunately I don't have any other young female relatives who would be interested.

    Inconsistant/Arbitrary rules...

I have to agree with 3e falling damage. My high level (15) Dwarf barbarian/rogue was on the back of a dragon, facing an evil dragon rider (Dragonlance game.) Being cool, he leaps off his dragon, falls onto the other dragon (not that far down) and wrestles with the dragon rider. They both fall...

What would this society look like?

Semi-nomadic - This probably means that different areas of land are cultivated at different times. Perhaps there is a major city, but most of the farmers and what not would be moving around with the seasons. They probably follow a grow/harvest/burn/fallow method, especially if they are tied to...

    WW2 Superheroes Brainstorming

Of course! Man, why in the world didn't I think of that. Of those movies I've only seen Aliens, but I seemed to have suffered a mental blank. Thanks again, Dannyalcatraz! Here's a question for you and everyone - what do you think would be a cool encounter/campaign idea for use in WW2?

Idea! Iron Kingdoms and Warhammer RPG

Thats not a bad idea at all, Wolf96! Thanks! The only thing I'm thinking about now is Mechanical weapons, with fire bursts and what not. Anyone have any ideas?

    Starting a new M&M campaign...

(I just saw Stephen Kings The Mist and read Viriconium) A (mad) scientist breaks into another dimension, releasing a strange mist over London. At first no-one can tell the difference, until people start being infested. A growing cult of nihilists, called the Locust Path start plotting to change...

Also.. wondering, how could their LT make their life miserable?

    Worlds without Human Dominance

You know what I'm sick of? Human centric worlds where all the humans are the same, or even able to work together. I know the Terry pratchett thing - when you have Dwarves and Trolls, hating a human with a different accent is harder - but really. I think it wastes a lot of roleplaying potential...

    Roleplaying and Mental Health (Psychology)

True20 is fairly easy to digest, if still a print product. It can do pretty much any setting with a relatively high level of lethality. I find its just loose enough with the rules you can bend them easily, and tight enough that munchkinism doesn't set in. Would you prefer more of a game and...

Best RPG for my vacation with the wife

Actually I'd suggest away from just RPGs. There's a board game called Carcassone. It's awesome. If you were to RP, I'd probably not use 4e; too much reliance on multiple characters. I might recommend something simple like Kobolds Ate My Baby or if you like spooky stuff Call of Cthulhu.

    WW2 Superheroes Brainstorming

Thanks, Dannyalcatraz! Hmm.. I wonder how I'll find out the fears of the characters? Maybe I'll ask the players to write in what they might be afraid of. I'll wiki up those supers you mentioned, see what I can see, thanks! I remember Forbidden Planet well, actually. Seeing the horror of the...

    WW2 Superheroes Brainstorming

Well, I've got a basic idea of what's going to happen. PC's are (originally at least) going to be with the Australian 6th division. Prior to the adventure: We'll briefly go over the leaving home and training parts, and how and where their first 'talent' was aquired. Adventure 1 is the Battle...

    WW2 Superheroes Brainstorming

I had an interesting idea. What about a super who, with the stress of war, went insane? This is vaguely related to a sample talent I saw on the Godlike talent dossiers. In Godlike, insane talents believe in their own delusions, and hence have a lot more power than what they did before. My idea...

    WW2 Superheroes Brainstorming

Hello everyone! I'm going to run a game set in WW2, with realistic supers (GODLIKE setting). The PC's are Australian 7th division in Africa to begin. I've got a basic outline of what their games will include - basically the major battles and a few situations where they will find themselves in...
