    Second Wind when Unconscious?

Rolling a natural 20 on your death save lets you spend a healing surge. This is different from taking your second wind.

4E Class Survivor Round 17 - The Fighter is the Sole Survivor!

The fighter has always been my favorite class, but it never felt like it reached its potential in previous editions of D&D. In 4th, the fighter kicks the stuffing out of people. He's still a meat shield, but if you ignore him, he punishes you. I like the rogue, but the fighter is emblematic...

How were you introduced to RPGs?

Introduced by a friend during the summer before 6th grade. Started with Basic D&D, and have never looked back, except for one long hiatus in the middle of RPGing history. And I came back from that hiatus because, again, a friend got me into 3rd edition D&D and his regular gaming group at...

4E Class Survivor - Round 14 (We now have the final 5)

Sorcerer, definitely sorcerer. I like the warlock and I like its flavor and mechanics, but the damage output is sometimes subpar. Then sorcerer comes in with its better damage as an arcane striker, but with like 50% less flavor. Sour grapes, I know, but thems the breaks. It is going to be...

    Unnerfing monsters?

For my PBP game, I've been using -25% HP/+33% damage for my monsters, mainly to speed up combat for the slower online format. It seems to work well -- monsters go down pretty quickly, even elite brutes, and they hit hard. The other thing I do is stick more closely to the suggested monster...

4E Class Survivor - Round 9 (The top ten classes)

    Down with the sorcerer!

    4E Class Survivor - Round 4

I've given up on voting off the sorcerer -- for now. I'll save that vitriol for the later rounds. I guess the invoker gets my evil eye this time around. I am bummed to see the bard and warlock among the frontrunners this time.

    What would fix warlocks?

I think what he is saying is that there exist items whose property increases the damage dice of your Warlock's Curse, such as the Vicious Rod: So creating a feat that has the same wording would create conflicts, and thus perhaps an alternative wording or approach to increasing damage would be...

Comparing Heroic to Paragon teir play (how does it comparatively "feel"?)

One of the things that jumps out at me in paragon play is action points. In the heroic tier, action points buy you an extra action (parties with tactical warlords notwithstanding). In paragon tier, all of the PPs have abilities tied to action points, and suddenly things get a lot more...

Frodo / Bilbo - hybrid warlord / rogue

I was almost thinking bard, maybe hybrid bard|rogue, for Frodo. Frodo was more cerebral than any of the other hobbits, more learned. Just a thought. But Frodo is definitely the toughest of the Fellowship to pin down to a specific class.

    A weekend in the Abyss

Try to work pod demons into the mix. They're super creepy and super awesome. Also, working in the enmity between the various demon lords, perhaps even enlisting the aid of one demon lord's followers against another (to get the heart of an aspect) would be cool. This scenario courtesy of the...

    Titans vs. Giants

Titans, according to the MotP, may have been the first servants of the primordials (a la angels and gods). Titans are basically exaggerated giants. They're bigger, they're more powerful, and they express a greater affinity for their element. Storm titans are more, well, stormy, frost titans...

    Less Sudden Paragon Pathing

I think some paragon paths definitely require some in-game explanation, especially ones that are tied to some tradition or organization. Others, though, like Battlefield Archer for a ranger or Kensai for a fighter, seem like a natural progression from the class -- the powers are just a bit more...

    4E Class Survivor - Round 1

This is the most persuasive and eloquent reason I've seen yet :) Can I change my vote?

    4E Class Survivor - Round 1

I voted sorcerer, because I think they could have done a lot more with it. Even though warlocks may be inferior strikers, I like them a heckuva lot better. But I almost voted shaman.

Draconomicon, Open Grave: How Do They Stack Up?

My quick analysis of paragon and epic solos from the two sources suggests they follow the MM1 model of high hit points, high defenses. I think damage and # of attacks are more in line with MM1 (didn't see any adamantine dragon-esque 4 attacks as a standard action, mostly double attacks).

D&D 4E An Orc hero from Warcraft 3 in 4e

For the shadow hunter, maybe some sort of malediction invoker (to get the cursing)/shaman (to get the spirits and healing) hybrid or multiclass. For the far seer, I think a druid/shaman mash-up might work.

    The Battlefield as Hostile Terrain

I could imagine volleys of arrows being modeled by a trap / hazard that makes a once per round area attack. And I agree with eriktheguy, this idea is very nice. An elegant way to handle clashing armies in 4e, without using monsters or even minions.
