    Favorite Snacks?

I remember those, Torm...Ah, alas for the age that is past, for the wonders of't shall never be seen again... :(

    (December) What are you reading?

In the middle of Sailor on the Seas of Fate after finishing Elric of Melnibone. Good stuff, although the Four-In-One was kinda off-putting in that I thought it (and Agak and Gagak) was silly.

    Favorite Snacks?

Herr's makes 'em. I get mine at the local Farm Fresh or a...I don't remember if it's Blimpie's or Zero's, but I suspect the latter.

    D&D-influenced Fantasy Novels

Yeah, that's a pretty cool series  EDIT: One of these days, I'm putting a magician in a campaign with the Glass Cat as a familiar. I love that little beastie!

    Favorite Familiars or Animal Companions

The character I want to play if I ever get a chance is a bard with the Wild Cohort and Summon Familiar feats, both ravens. A one-eyed bard/fighter, with a floppy hat and a staff.

    Favorite Snacks?

Dill Pickle chips or Salt and Vinegar chips. Steak and Worcestershire Chips are yummy, too :) Grapes, sandwiches (yeah, sometimes a snack food). Hoagie rolls (good by themselves or with a bit of cheese). Lately I've been slicing sandwiches into strips and dipping them. Yummy!

    Your favorite post-apocolyptic movie?

Ooooh...do you mean the Maiden song Quest for Fire? About the caveman tribe fighting dinosaurs and cannibals while looking for fire? Awesome

Forgotten Realms Just Like Lord of the Rings?

Ya, when I heard that he'd done LotR just to get to King Kong, I thought, "Oh, that explains it." He still did a good job and I really enjoyed the movies, though.

Paladin vs Blackguard question of bias

Next time I play straight D&D, I'm going to use the Pious Templar class for paladins.

Forgotten Realms Just Like Lord of the Rings?

Gandalf is an angelic creature, a Maia from Valar  But you don't get that unless you get into the Silmarillion. Here's a link I love Wikipedia :)

    Rate Narnia (spoiler-free thread)

I haven't seen the movie, but I'm curious where those two 1s came from...

    Energy Weapons VS Ballistic Weapons

I was mostly thinking about the lack of moving parts, the vastly greater rate of fire, and the easier variable-magazines.

Semi-Rant: Maturity and dumbing down a game

Alright, I think that post kinda cleared your position up for me, Dremmen. You're down on people using D&D for a miniatures combat game with no plot or characterization, where you might think up a name for your character and maybe make a sketchy map of the area if you're feeling really into it...

    Chess

Oooh, I've wanted to try Knightmare Chess for a good long while. One of these days... On of my childhood memories is breaking the knights in my dad's metal chess set :(

Semi-Rant: Maturity and dumbing down a game

This is exactly it. Narrative style play is a good and fine thing, and it can be a welcome and refreshing change from hack'n'slash-but that's what it is, a nice change that can hopefully revitalize someone's flagging interest; it's a change to a different style, not an evolution to a better...

    Just watched Narnia (Possible spoilers)

Yeah, I see you on the allegory thing, but that West Side idea is just ridiculous. Bah, humans are too good at seeing what they want to see.

    Just watched Narnia (Possible spoilers)

Nobody, I was talking about the author of the article I was talking about :) I'm just saying that his foolishness poisoned the school of thought he was coming from for me, and recognizing that it might have skewed my perspective.
