    Help me build a Shadowlord

Loopholes are legit. That's why they're called loopholes instead of cheating. Personally, I don't think that the folks that wrote the Shadowlord prestige class intended the Shadow Pounce ability to be able to produce more than one full attack. Because the text of the ability is poorly worded...

    Help me build a Shadowlord

Perhaps I should clarify: I want to optimize my character build for when I do have access to Shadow Pounce.

    Help me build a Shadowlord

Keep in mind that I'm building a playable character, here, not one that any DM in his right mind is going to nerf: that probably means only one full attack per round, no matter what the loopholes in the rules. May be one that can port, attack, and port away would be more likely to sneak under...

    Help me build a Shadowlord

What's the best build for a Telflammar Shadowlord? I've got eight levels to work with, and I want to exploit Shadow Pounce/Shadow Jump/Sneak Attack for all it's worth.

    Shadow Stride

OK, then it's not like Dimension Door.

    your experience with generic classes?

I wondered why the Expert class has two less hits points and one more good save compared to the Rogue.

    Shadow Stride

The Shade template in the FRCS gives an ability called Shadow Stride. This ability is like Dimension Door, except it only works in shadowy areas. It's also a move action! This is important, as I want to be able to use it in conjunction with Spring Attack. My question is: is there a piece of...

    CDG with nonlethal damage?

And that's the problem. However, there is a specified limit to the amount of lethal damage you can take: HP +10, then you're dead. If nonlethal damage is simply a running total compared to your current HP, how can you receive nonlethal damage that exceeds your HP? Also, keep in mind that the...

    CDG with nonlethal damage?

OK, i didn't think this thread would ever be revived, but... the rules behind non-lethal damage are unclear in this aspect, i believe. So, does this mean that when your nonlethal damage has exceeded your current hit points, you can no longer take additional nonlethal damage? If so, this means...

    Hit Points and D&D

There is when it's being wielded two-handed by a hill giant.

Any interesting XP variants out there?

I'm very partial to the willy-nilly approach to XP. In fact, I don't eve deal with the numbers. At the end of a session, I'll say, "You're 2/3s of the way to your next level." Usually, I allow them a level for every 3 or 4 full-length sessions.

    Hit Points and D&D

Have you actually read the WP/VP system? An arrow will never do 3d8 points of damage. No weapon has a critical multiplier.

What's wrong with the UA spell points system?

That's when you'd be able to gain the benefit of +5 deflection from shield of faith in the standard system.

What's wrong with the UA spell points system?

Couldn't you spend 18 spell points and gain +5 deflection for 18 minutes?

What's wrong with the UA spell points system?

On closer inspection, many of the powers in the XPH have factors that are determined by manifester level, regardless of power point expenditure. Specifically, range and duration are two of the most common. So, apparently, if spell scaling is a problem in the UA system, it's also a problem in...

What's wrong with the UA spell points system?

So what if I incorporated a spell point per caster level augmentation system?

What's wrong with the UA spell points system?

I'm toying with the idea of using the Psion and Wilder classes in my next campaign, but allowing them to cast arcane spells instead of manifesting psionic powers. Mainly, I really like the mechanics behind these classes. Maximum powers known, power points, and augmentation are good concepts, I...

Psions and Wilders as arcane casters?

I was wondering if anyone was gonna bite on this thread. As far as I can tell, there's not much difference between the UA and the XPH augmentation system. The main reason that I'm not using powers as arcane spells is the sheer number of spells vs. powers. There's a spell for every occasion...

    Evard's Black Tentacles

You could take a hint from the entry for the giant squid. Assuming that each tentacle takes up a 5 x 5 square, you could make nine sunder attempts and clear your area. Alternately, you could allow them each to be individual creatures, leaving the way open for great cleave. A talented fighter...

Putting the Skill Back in Speak Language

How is this, by the way? I've been thinking about picking it up. Is it worth it?
