    Steampunk Star Wars

I originally saw this on Erik Mona's blog (I think), but here's another example. Pages 4 and 5 have the best ones for my money. I'd love to see something like this in an animated movie form. I'd upload some pictures from it to give everybody an example, but I don't know how to :heh: :o

June - What are you reading?

Kay is such a great writer. Most of his work has more of an "historical" feel than a high fantasy feel, except for this one (and maybe Tigana). The first book in the trilogy is called "The Summer Tree", and it's really good. The only things I don't like about it is his magic system and the fact...

    To Sail the Sunless Sea

When is the book coming out? Get on it, people.

Recommend five (and only five) fantasy books

If by Fantasy you mean traditional "fantasy" 1. Last Light Of the Sun by Guy Gavriel Kay (only because somebody already mentioned Tigana) 2. The Scar by China Mieville 3. A Storm Of Swords by George R.R. Martin 4. Deleriums Mistress by Tanith Lee 5. Tales of Neveryon by Samuel R. Delany The...

Fantastic Four 2: Rise of the Silver Surfer (spoilers)

Worse Than Spider-Man 3 I never saw the first FF flick, but my friends said it was "enjoyable" (bad in a fun way), so I agreed to go with them to see this one, because it did actually look pretty enjoyable. ugh. Alba as Invisible Woman wasn't the only bad casting choice, for my money. That...

Help me decide what game to run next!

While I think Rivets Eternal sounds really neat (that's saying something; I'm not a big steampunk fan), I'm more interested in the last two. It's not because I'm a big FR fan (I'm not), either. The Troupe of Painted Soul sounds something right up my alley. Secret Societes and thesbianism?. Does...

[May] What are you listening to?

Typical indie rock BS from the past couple months. New ones from Arcade Fire, Modest Mouse, Feist, Shins, and Blonde Redhead.

    [May] What are you reading?

I'm finishing up on Tanith Lee's 1983 novel Anackire. It's turning out to be one of her better ones; shame it had to follow the lackluster Storm Lord... I plan on re-reading a few selections from Kelly Link's Magic For Beginners. A fine collection of short stories in a "fantastical fiction"...

Need Help With Getting My New Campaign Started

Please do, if it's not too much trouble! I've already added this page to my favorites, so I won't lose it. I just went on amazon to take a gander at said novel. Bear was never an author I considered reading (not a big hard SF fan), but this sounds pretty interesting. Something about the...

Need Help With Getting My New Campaign Started

This post won't help you; sorry.... :heh: I was wondering if you were basing this on the Guardians of the Flame novels. Me and my friends read the first two or so back during the 2e days, and we promptly decided to immitate the concept. We started them twice, but neither went far; only a...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder v Digital Initiative

Pathfinder's a def. go for me. The Adventure Paths are went kept me coming to Dungeon, and this new thing they got going is getting me all riled up; as sad as I am to see those two mags go. This digital initiative? I'd have to see it before I made a decision. I dislike paying for thing that I...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

I went through the five stages of grief in about as many minutes. Yes, I had nothing but love for the magazines, and I do feel it is the end of an era.... That being said, I am SO TERRIBLY EXCITED for the new Pathfinder books. Have any of you gone over the paizo website to take a look (I went...

Any Clark Ashton Smith experts out there?

I'm interested in reading some of his work, but I don't quite know where to start. His Zothique tales appeal to me the most, so that's where I want to begin. Night Shade books has started a 5 volume collection of his tales, but cross checking them with this Zothique wiki, it appears that the...

    Tales of Earthsea

For those who care to read it, an article showing both sides (Goro's and Ursula's) of the "debate".

    Tales of Earthsea

Believe what you want, but that's what this says. I'm not saying I believe everything I read (especially online), but still. Just because something does well commercially doesn't mean it warrents artistic merit. Le Guin herself expressed disappointment in it. You can find her review Here. Be...

    Monsters of Cool

I'll go with some of the iconic classics, too....Mindflayers, Beholders, and Githyanki. My most recent favorite would have to be the Ethergaunts. And Giant Space Hamesters.

Fictional creatures that would make good monsters

I second that Bonnacon vote. Napalm dung is long overdue. I'd like to see stats from R. Scott Bakers Prince of Nothing series (Sranc, Inchoroi and their "weapons of light", Bashrags, Wracu, Nonmen) but I think they might be a little to dark for regular DnD fair.

    Tales of Earthsea

I've heard that it won the Japanese version of the Ratzzies (am I spelling that right?), you know, the awards they give to the worst movies. Also, I've heard that Hayao himself has expressed disappointment in the finished product. That being said, I really do want to see it.
