    Feat: Cunning Stalker

That would be my interpretation of it, yeah. You could still get CA by flanking, but if you were, say, engaging the target in melee with no other creatures adjacent to it (and thus getting CA from this feat) and one of your allies comes up and flanks with you, you then both have combat advantage.

How Can a DM Encourage Roleplaying?

I was in this boat myself not too long ago, so I certainly understand where you're coming from. If you feel your "watcher" players would enjoy this kind of thing, but haven't really had the opportunity to delve into it yet, then try reeling them in with hooks designed specifically for them or...

    Eberron inconsistencies

A little late to the party here, but I'm fairly certain conductor stones have a current running through them. From Adventurer's Guide to Eberron, page 12: So from that source, at least, it sounds like there is a constant electric current runs through them (which is how I've played it in my...

    Level one...hero or schlub?

I'd prefer to start as somebody who's above average, but not really recognized as heroic on any level. Maybe a tiny bit of really minor fame, but the gradual progression to hero (and superhero?) is what I enjoy most.

    Campaign Ideas and Critique?

If you're sticking with the dream sequence idea, then why not make it interactive? You could make it an actual battle where the players actually fight the dream enemies to involve them a little more, and then introduce the individual groups sort of one by one as "waves" in this impossible...

    Favorite/Hated Race - and Why?

I have six of those races as player characters in my current game. I feel so... eclectic.

    Favorite/Hated Race - and Why?

Favorite: Dwarves because of all the stereotypes. They are just nonstop awesome. Least favorite: Bullywugs are a plague upon this earth.

    Throwing non-thrown weapons feat?

Awesome, thanks. I really didn't think there would be, but it's nice to know for sure.

    Throwing non-thrown weapons feat?

That's the Hurl Weapon feat I mentioned, but it specifies that you can only throw off-hand one-handed weapons in that way. This player is not multiclassed into Barbarian, but even if he was, that still wouldn't apply to warhammers, would it?

    Throwing non-thrown weapons feat?

Hi, just a quick question. One of my players, who plays a Fighter, is insisting there's a feat that will allow him to throw warhammers as though they're throwing hammers. Is this a real feat? I can't find it anywhere, but I didn't think it would be, given that it would make other things (like...

    My Brilliant Homebrew

With a -2 penalty to the defense automatically within 3 squares and even though this is disabled when bloodied, it no longer matters because the non-CA dependent at-will does 28 damage on average at that point, anyway.

75% health, +1/2 level damage and... ongoing damage?

Thanks for the reply. It's a recent monster, as I really only like to use post-MM3 damage expressions - it's a young green dragon (thought I specified that, sorry!) that has been scaled up to level 8. It has multiple ways of dealing that ongoing poison damage, including poisonous wounds, bite...

75% health, +1/2 level damage and... ongoing damage?

As the title implies, I'm currently using a system in my game where the monsters have 75% of their given health, and in exchange do extra damage equal to half of their level. I absolutely love this change - battles are more deadly, more exciting, and overall, more quick. The grind was already...

What questions to ask your players as a DM during character creation

I ask questions that vary a lot. Usually once we have a sketch of the character's background I work with them to add it appropriately into the game setting, and then anything else I want to know, I ask. I tried those twenty question surveys, but we just found those tiresome, so now I try to keep...

DM/Graphic Designer with too much time on his hands...

I wonder why I've never thought of this. I went straight from 2D tokens to plastic minis without considering anything in between. Switching to something like this could save me a fortune...

Learned Boost - how many targets?

I would interpret that as an ability that affects all targets, based on the nature of the power, the description, and (by looking in the old version of the CB) the description of "varies" for its targeting.

Player wants to be with the bad guys

But they are human. Why can't they be humanized just a little? He wants to play the one good guy in a faction full of terrible, evil characters. By saying "no, they are all completely evil and irredeemable and even after all these years there has never once been one who questioned all the evil...

    New Player a bit confused

That's a big question. Flanking involves two characters on opposite sides of a monster (or vise versa), basically "sandwiching" one enemy. This situation grants combat advantage for that enemy to the flankers, but not anybody else. Combat advantage is gained in this way and in many other ways...

Player wants to be with the bad guys

So you're saying he doesn't really want to be bad guy, but rather a former member of their faction who is now attempting to oppose them? Call me insane, but I don't really see what the problem is. I actually think that's a decent character concept, and it's best to roleplay with a concept...
