    D&D 4E 4e Age Categories

Ah. Okay. Not being a community supporter (put down your tomatoes, I have limited financial resources for stuff like this, I promise) I wasn't sure. Good luck with your conversion!

    D&D 4E 4e Age Categories

Maybe I'm crazy, but isn't the WotBS campaign available in both Pathfinder and 4e formats? How does the 4e version of the campaign handle the potential aging?

    "Discipline of Death" Feat

Yeah, I noticed that after I posted. I just decided to be lazy and hope that my error slipped by unnoticed. :)

    I6: Ravenloft

I don't know of any 4e conversions. I'm currently in the middle of a 4e update/conversion of Night of the Walking Dead for a special "Weekend in Mists" Halloween session for my monthly group.

    "Discipline of Death" Feat

Actually, if you're fortunate enough to have a Cleric in your party with the Harbinger of Rebirth feat, you're REALLY golden. :) The Cleric grants +5 to Death Saving Throws to all allies within 5 squares.

    Dark Sun Character Sheets?

In all fairness...how much is different between the standard character sheet (available on WotC's site, for free .pdf download) and a "Dark Sun" character sheet? Theme. That's it. So...you write your Theme in on one of the myriad blank lines on a standard character sheet, or even squeeze it...

    DDI September/October Update info

Yeah, I can only speak for my groups, but I think there are 3 other people I game with, between 2 groups that pay for a DDI subscription besides myself. My subscription covers myself and my wife (and the 4 computers we use between the two of us), and I know that many of the other players share...

    Plot twist!

How about this...they're not dead. They're not disheveled. They're not anything other than what they've always been. The catch is this: what they've always been is over-hyped and over-exaggerated. That's the essence of being "the stuff of legends." The truth is blown way out of proportion...

    Gamma World is a Gas!

I haven't played it yet and I don't even own it, but GW strikes me as being a great time. I just don't know how, when, or where I'd find the time or people to play it. My D&D groups play D&D. The one meets monthly, the other bi-weekly. We're not going to start up a separate GW game, and...

D&D 4E In 4e, why do you play the Race/Class you play?

Dwarf Tempest Fighter - he wields and Urgrosh and puts a serious hurting on guys with his Urgrosh-wielding Two-Blade Ranger sister in melee with him. :) Human Guardian Druid (Summoner) - I wanted the extra at-will (I have 4!), and it just fit with the background I had in mind for the...

D&D Fiction in the New Yorker

It's not a bad read by any stretch. It's definitely dark, as other posters have said; I just worry that it doesn't exactly do gamers any favors. Yes, the "school gamers" are made to seem quite normal in comparison to the Dungeon Master and his group, but that only serves to make the Dungeon...

Level (and Equipment)-based To-Hit Modifier Only

That's the crucial thing I was missing - I wasn't taking into account the fact that Expertise scales by tier. I've only played (barely) into the Paragon tier, and only DM'd Heroic games so far. Makes sense to me now. Thank you.

    No Character Builder Update

The update was originally pushed back to the 21st. They then sent out a message to DDI subscribers via their Community site informing us that there would be no update at all for September. They hoped that they could get everything done in time for October's scheduled update. We'll see about...

Level (and Equipment)-based To-Hit Modifier Only

Oy. This is why I'll never be a game designer. I'm not doubting your math, I just simply fail to see where the Expertise feats blow up the equation. =/

Level (and Equipment)-based To-Hit Modifier Only

Completely separate from feats and equipment? I can see divorcing it from magical equipment bonuses if I'm looking for a simple equation (level or half-level + x), but I don't see a problem with the Expertise feats if I keep the equation modifier low enough. That allows for the guy or gal who...

Level (and Equipment)-based To-Hit Modifier Only

A few comments in a thread over in the "vanilla" 4e forum got me thinking: In order to take away the temptation to get a 20 as your prime ability score, how would one go about implementing a strictly level and equipment based To Hit mechanic? As in, the Fighter might have a 20 STR, but that +5...

And if racial bonuses didn't matter?

Despite my lack of "love" for the monstrous PC races...I have a terrible, terrible itch to play a Goring Charge-blast guys away Minotaur Wizard. But it's so functionally incompetent as to be useless in play. :( Edit: after reading the posts above regarding "hitting" not being tied to primary...

    No Character Builder Update

To be completely fair, the restaurant analogy just doesn't fly. It only works if you look at it like an all-you-can eat buffet where you pay one price for everything when you walk in the door. In this case, you paid $6.00 on this trip. As part of the deal, you're entitled to EVERYTHING in the...

Please give a new DM some advices

There's already a penalty built into resurrecting PCs: -1 to all attack, damage, and saving throw rolls until the character achieves 3 milestones. Edit: Directly from the Compendium entry for the Raise Dead ritual...
