mm is a good resource ...but it fails as a bestiary for me. the art is boring (and some of them are just bad...why is the bullywug wearing a tunic? the cambion just looks like a bad cosplayer...all of the sphinx art looks like lion king leftovers ^^;...the minotaur looks cuddly not menacing)...

just to stake out my position on this...i love d&d and bought the fifth edition (which i also plan on playing :cool:)....but you have somewhat proven my point here. the game as written now is safe enough for a five year old and a 50 year old churchgoer :mad:. but is this a good thing? playing it...

to the realism argument...there really isn't one that is worth addressing. unless one considers a group of 4-6 characters tackling a dungeon somehow 'real' or representative of medieval combat. in a world of fantasy why not have fantastical heroes and heroines? wouldn't some of the characters...

the biggest current trend (say 10 years or so) is the self publishing industry. now anyone with an idea and some knowledge of layout and design (i did say some ^^;...:D) can publish , at least in pdf form, the module or sourcebook of their dreams. this has led to an explosion of titles/add-ons/...
