    D&D General Warlock vs Sorcerer

The issue with the divine soul is the lack of bonus spells known. The 2024 updates give all warlock patrons in the PHB and most sorcerer bloodlines in the PHB bonus spells prepped but divine soul isn't on that list. The 2024 warlock can take a strong early lead with pact of the tome at 1st...

    D&D General Warlock vs Sorcerer

Ditto. The warlock is the better generalist of the two, but the bard or wizard both have broader spell access. The bard has the best access list but the worst prep limits (because of subclass bonus spells prepped) so I'd recommend wizard unless you want those healing spells.

D&D (2024) Greatweapon fighting style? Is this another joke? Did everyone at WotC failed elementary school math classes?

I was using a 65% hit rate in my calculations, but that's beside the point. The lower the hit rate the higher the graze damage over time. That's not the importain point, however. Fighting styles don't operate in a vacuum so comparing them in a vacuum doesn't make sense. It's not like your...

D&D (2024) Greatweapon fighting style? Is this another joke? Did everyone at WotC failed elementary school math classes?

We don't really need to munchkinize it. The base weapon damage favors the weapon and if we compare a champion using a greatsword with great weapon fighting and great weapon master and graze to a champion using a shield and spear with dueling and polearm master and sap then the great sword is...

D&D (2024) Types of Magic - Arcane, Divine, and Primal?

Which is still an edge case. 4th and 5th level spells might be taken at 10th level, but at 14th and 18th levels bards were taking higher level spells from 6th thru 9th level that don't exist for paladins and rangers at all. The entire argument is based on the off chance a bard might take a...

D&D (2024) Types of Magic - Arcane, Divine, and Primal?

The EK can pick up compelled duel via fey-touched because it's an enchantment unless stipulations have been added to fey-touched (or shadow touched). Bards couldn't just "pilfer signature spells" faster than paladins or rangers because paladins and rangers have most of them before bards even...

    D&D (2024) Is Cause Fear still a 1st level spell in 2024?

Now imagine creating spell glyphs with mirage arcane using glyph of warding. Shenanigans ;-)

    D&D (2024) Is Cause Fear still a 1st level spell in 2024?

This link from DDB shows your premise is faulty. That does not claim the spell automatically fails. That text claims it's likely to fail if the character enters the area EXCEPT when the difference isn't obvious by touch. The illusion from outside of the area of effect isn't obvious by touch...

    D&D 5E New class niche?

I'd also argue that the artificer already counts as the 1/2 arcane. The "but expert" also applies to the ranger. The 2024 eldritch knights have already fixed that. Standard gish options go eldritch knights, artificer, warlock, valor bard. EK's and valor bards can mix cantrips and spells...

    D&D (2024) Is Cause Fear still a 1st level spell in 2024?

There is no save to make. It's that check after taking that action. If people in the campaign are spending actions constantly investigating everything as they travel they're going to travel rather slowly, lol. We need to ask ourselves why and how someone might investigate from a distance...

    D&D (2024) What's your favorite NEW spell for 5.24e?

Yeah, that was totally my bad. Sorry about that.

    D&D (2024) What's your favorite NEW spell for 5.24e?

Wait... were you talking about Tasha's Bubbling Cauldron or Arcane Vigor with this question? Our wires might have been crossed. Arcane Vigor is sorc / wiz. TBC is warlock / wiz. Sorry if I got confused for a moment.

    D&D (2024) What's your favorite NEW spell for 5.24e?

yes I was thinking Tasha's Immovable Doorstop was a good plan. I'm sure there's several uses. Common: climbing, healing Uncommon: slipperiness, love, animal friendship, fire breath, greater healing, growth, hill giant strength, poison, resistance, water breathing Odds and ends from other...

    D&D (2024) What's your favorite NEW spell for 5.24e?

It's not a sorcerer spell. It's available to wizards and warlocks (as mystic arcanum). At that level bards can pick it up easily via magical secrets as well.

D&D (2024) Why is Ritual Caster gated?

I think that depends on the lens through which we're looking. In most cases, yeah no so good. But if I'm looking at bards 2024 has increased their damage cantrip options significantly. Vicious Mockery does d6's now and causes one attack at disadvantage. It's better but still poor damage and...

D&D (2024) Fighter weapons and masteries

Multiple attacks against multiple targets generates multiple sap effects. There's a decision point created where piling all the damage on a single target isn't necessarily the best choice with weapon mastery effects that don't stack on themselves. I can see scenarios where sapping multiple...

D&D (2024) Are single class martials still going to be viable in 2024?

We also would need a way to compare the trade-offs taken instead of damage to compare individual aspects of a build plus a stack ranking comparison overall. Sounds like a lot of work. 🤔

D&D (2024) Are single class martials still going to be viable in 2024?

Some 20th level abilities are definitely worth taking if a person expects that level of play. Others (like the ranger capstone) are a lot less appealing. Elmo understands.
