I think it implies that the design choice for fun value was successful.

D&D (2024) Can A Spell Caster Out Damage a Martial Consistently?

Wish can. Wish is a long ways away but I guess if we're talking those levels wish counts.

D&D (2024) Can A Spell Caster Out Damage a Martial Consistently?

Casting mass suggestion means rolling for initiative that the wizard isn't guaranteed to win and provides a save against which the rogue isn't guaranteed to fail. That rogue is capable of KO'ing that wizard with steady aim and cunning strike though. If I were playing the rogue I would...

    D&D (2024) Martial/Caster fix.

I would argue that means the martial buddy is giving that ability to the wizard because it takes 12 hours of cooperation and the wizard doesn't have that ability without that buddy. Plus the spell requires 12 hours of snow / ice not melting. That's a bit of a situational component. ;-)

    D&D (2024) Martial/Caster fix.

I gave an example of out of combat utility and you made a claim against the skill system. It's a DC check for a favor. It's a bonus available to every fighter and not available to wizards or most casters. To what end? The echo is a combat ability when fighters have combat abilities and a...

    Okay, I'll bite... how so?

D&D (2024) 2024 Class Rankings (from nat1gaming.com) for ppl who believe that stuff.

ya know, I did link the site so that people could go look. ;-) They basically assigned tier values to individual traits and features, totaled those, and then stack ranked based on those values. For example, bards got an S-Tier value at 17th level for their 9th level spell access while...

    D&D (2024) Martial/Caster fix.

I'm not following what "influence" an echo knight has that I don't see in a battle master in your example. I think using the battle master's student of war ability gained at 3rd level to add a useful skill proficiency and also proficiency in alchemist's supplies is more useful than a 1hp echo...

    D&D (2024) Martial/Caster fix.

A person doesn't have to have artificers added. I would do it to fill out the classes a bit more but I think the seven without artificers can work a campaign just fine too.

    D&D (2024) Martial/Caster fix.

I'm not a big believer in the caster/martial divide, but there's a much simpler solution than changing those classes. If a person thinks there's an issue then just ban bards, clerics, druids, sorcerers, and wizards from the table. Allow artificers. This leaves 8 classes to play (artificer...

D&D (2024) 2024 Class Rankings (from nat1gaming.com) for ppl who believe that stuff.

Couple things right off the start. Believing something to be real does not make it real. Believing something is not real does not make it not real on that same note. What's real or not real requires evidence. The evidence we're discussing in this topic is largely subjective value based...

D&D (2024) 2024 Class Rankings (from nat1gaming.com) for ppl who believe that stuff.

I don't care about something I don't actually believe, lol. It's been mentioned multiple times now: casters are not good until high levels. Even then it's mostly access to high level wizard spells that leads to the caster biases. Limited spell slots whiffing on low DC's is more restricting...

D&D (2024) 2024 Class Rankings (from nat1gaming.com) for ppl who believe that stuff.

I think they really gave rogues the consideration they deserve. Part of their reasoning was bards exist so rogues skills become less relevant, but IME reliable talent is much better than other skill benefits. Uncanny dodge, evasion, cunning action, cunning strike, and even weapon mastery adds...

D&D (2024) 2024 Class Rankings (from nat1gaming.com) for ppl who believe that stuff.

I was reading opinions on this site and they seem to differ from what some of the people here post so I thought I would bring it up for discussion. That site includes subclasses prior to 2024 rules updates but I think a person can go there to follow up. I'm more interested in the new rules...

New Unearthed Arcana Released, With 8 New Forgotten Realms-Themed Subclasses

I think the number required was off and possibly misleading, but 1st level spell scrolls being cheap and more accessible is valid. Especially if the wizard is making their own during downtime.

    D&D General Warlocks

NPC's and monsters don't necessarily follow character creation rules, but shatter was a warlock spell in the 2014 rules and has been removed. I don't imagine it would be difficult to get a DM to allow selecting the spell. As a DM I am open to player suggestions for the their character that...

    D&D General Warlocks

Fireball-ish is not likely on a warlock at that 3rd level. The 3rd level spell fireball is available from the fiend patron as a 5th level warlock. Arms of Hadar is an AoE centered on warlocks as a 1st level spell that would do 3d6 damage in the AoE as a 3rd level warlock, and fiend also offers...
