Your Beginner's Guide to Warhammer 40K: Wrath & Glory

The thing that first turned me off to this game was the bundle hey released with all the decks. It gave me the feeling that to play this game I needed the books, tons of decks, etc. Put the game in the “premium” and out of reach, category for me. Kinda like the Star Trek RPG, the Borg Cube was...

Taking nominations for best RPG Podcasts of 2018!

I am very fond of the http://justonemorefix.com/ podcast. I don't always agree with them, but they have good discussions on how to run RPGs for adults and kids.

Joining the Guildmasters' Guide to Ravnica -- a Review

What I’m getting out of this book, is it’s the Megazord of Plane Shifts. Or it’s the Ravnica Players Guide, I’ve often commented I wanted more out of them, this books seems like that more. For the game master you probably need to get the Art of Magic Ravnica book that is due out in January. All...

First Impressions – Guildmasters Guide to Ravnica

Kaladesh was my favorite of them all. It would make a terrible D&D world but it had a ton of fun ideas. one of the items on my bucket list is to run Curse of Strahd in Innistrad, but amp up the Colonial-horror vibe by putting in some guns.

First Impressions – Guildmasters Guide to Ravnica

Not that I need much of an excuse to get it, considering I got all the other books. But it sounds like the Guild Masters Guide to Ravnica is the mother of all Plane Shifts, or maybe like the "Players Guide to Ravnica." And getting the Art book might be a required purchase to get all the fluff.

Dinosaurs On The Streets of Ravnica In This Art Preview

Look no further than your friendly neighborhood mall for answers... they are obviously on wheels and moved out of the way when not in use. Thats silly, the sound that comes out of an animals back isn't a beep. But you pay attention when you hear something that big make it. Building maintenance...

WotC's Nathan Stewart Reveals Ravnica's Druid Circle of Spores

im pretty sure it’s an Easter egg for the MtG players. The fungus Druid is very flavored around Golgari, who in Magic are green and black mana. Poison is green, and Necrotic is Black in this case.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker Is An Isometric RPG Experience

This game is the result after a fashion, the mmo fell apart and the company went under. The license was snapped up and the new company made the Kingmaker RPG.

Fantasy Grounds Usage Stats Confirms D&D #1, Followed by Pathfinder, Savage Worlds

4th isn’t a bad game, it’s just not a very good version of D&D. And if you can automate some of the more intense quirks of the system, like I have a feeling roll 20 can, it would be a blast to play on a computer.

Robin Laws' Tribal Approach With The Hillfolk RPG

A few years ago I bought the X-Crawl stuff for 3X D&D at a going out of business ess sale. I thought it was a fantastic and silly setting and tried to run it once. The problem is my players were having a hard time getting into the spirit of playing characters who had interpersonal conflicts. If...

The Agent's Handbook Reintroduces Us To The Worlds Of Delta Green

It's based on a variant of the normal Call of Cthulhu rules set. Converting an adventure over to this is relatively easy. The biggest hurtle is re-setting it in the modern day, more than a rules conversion.

    Phased Boss Fights

For those that like Phased Boss Fights check out my new article. While it is not completely released, it did spawn out of my thought experiments to make interesting antagonists for D&D. It's been a slow burn ever since I watched "New Nightmare" last Halloween, that all came together one car ride...

    Fear the Big Bad Wolf

This weeks article is now live! When I called dibs on the Big Bad Wolf it seemed like the perfect time to explore more ideas on making boss fights more interesting. A monster that has a plausible reason to return from the dead over and over, like Jason, Hammer film Dracula, or Michael Myers. My...

    Fantasy AGE Core Rulebook

5 out of 5 rating for Fantasy AGE Core Rulebook This review appeared originally at http://www.forgotmydice.com In a world where D&D exists, one of the questions I often find myself asking when I read fantasy RPG systems is this: Why am I playing this when I could be playing D&D? It’s a simple...

    Phased Boss Fights

The reason I suggest that is I had way to many "boss monsters" only activate once before dying, using the rules as written. I ended up straight adding a HP bonus to things I wanted to last a little longer. Typically in the 100 to 300 range by the end of the game depending on the encounter. So I...
